Classical music

I agree. The lack of one can probably be attributed to Wikipedia's systemic bias towards popular culture. I've added a paragraph on Sweden's world-famous opera singers to the black metal bands at Sweden#Music, and I'm copying that text here now. But there is of course a lot more to be said about other kinds of classical music. Unfortunately, my knowledge in the area is very limited. Feel free to add anything that could help.

Oh, and we could do with a mention of the many well-known jazz acts as well, such as Alice Babs and Arne Domnerus. / Alarm 11:38, 7 October 2005 (UTC)

This article needs quite a lot of work, I think. I was especially baffled by the section on choirs. It claims that Swedish choirs are the best in the world and that speaking Swedish gives you a better singing voice. The last statement sounds like utter nonsense to me and I should really like to see some evidence to back it up! Whoever wrote this article needs to add references. UK & American artists living in Sweden?

How about including that Andy Bell of Oasis lives in Sweden and well known rapper J-Ro (former member of Tha Alkaholiks)lives in Malmo. VsanoJ 15:46, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

I don't think it matters much. Apparently J-Ro has collaborated some with Swedish rappers, but I don't think Andy Bell has done much work for the Swedish music industry. 惑乱 分からん * \)/ (\ (< \) (2 /) /)/ * (talk) 13:42, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Hardcore

Besides Refused there are no mention of swedish hardcorebands. While bands like Mob 47 and Anticimex aren´t well known to the majority, they have been a huge influence for many bands around the world. Organization

Some sections of the article are really out of place. For example, in the "electro" section, there are links to hardcore punk bands, and there is a separate section for techno music. I plan on moving the groups in the electro section to the right place, and integrating the "electro", "techno", and "chiptune" section into an "electronic music" section, since they are all subgenres of electronic music. Stoner Rock

I'd like to see some reference in the article, to Sweden's growing contribution to the international stoner rock scene. Outside of the United States, Sweden has probably contributed more signed acts to this rock sub-genre than any other. Bands such as Spiritual Beggars, Dozer, Truckfighters, Lowrider, Astroqueen, Grand Magus, and The Mushroom River Band are deserving of a mention I think. How do you define the word Pop? As I see you have put Hammerfall and In Flames in the Pop-section I assume that by 'Pop' you mean to say, 'popular music'. Then perhaps rephrase the header to something more suited like 'popular music'. DukeTwicep (talk) 20:43, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

Punk rock

Remember, this is an international encyclopedia.

Ebba Grön may be bigger than Anti-Cimex in Sweden. But it is the opposite internationally. "A Tribute To Anti-Cimex LP, featuring a line up of D-beat and Crust bands from all over the world that were influenced by Anti-Cimex. I don't see why this being an international encyclopedia means it cannot describe the

conditions in a certain country. It's a fact that Ebba Grön is the best known punk band in Sweden, with a status like that of The Clash in the UK, well-known and loved by non-punks etc. (BTW, I wouldn't be surprised if their fan base on a global scale is larger than that of Anticimex; 20% of all Swedes beating 20% of the Earth's hardcore punk fans.) A sensible solution could of course be to mention, if it can be supported by trustworthy sources, that the first group happens to be the one best known outside Sweden, whereas the other is the band defining the genre for most Swedes.

introduction

The introduction part of the article mentions a bunch of bands and artists who've had "international success", such as ABBA and Roxette. In my opinion its a big understatement to say that these bands have had an "international success". Sparzanza

Jazz Music section: no mention of the Carlings?

I was just browsing through some Swedish articles, and found this one about music in Sweden. I was rather surprised there is no mention of Gunhild Carling, the late Hans Carling, or any of the Carling Family in general in the Jazz section. Hans was a very influential musician in the Jazz world, and with his family performed all over Europe, and later beyond. His daughter Gunhild gained even more notoriety being on the TV4 show "Let's Dance!", performed for the King of Sweden on his 70th Birthday, and after collaborating with Postmodern Jukebox is a worldwide recognized performer.
