Reason for Merge edit

I just wanted to know why all the album pages were deleted. NewYorkStyledCheesecakes! (talk) 12:25, 6 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

They weren't "deleted" they were moved here, none of the albums hold enough notability so they're all merged into this article.Bread Ninja (talk) 15:27, 6 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

C-class Review edit

Just wondering why this page is c-class but Music of Neon Genesis Evangelion isn't. Who assessed the page? I'll do some help if I find something needed to be done, got any things that need to be done?

--Necrojesta (talk) 16:50, 28 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

I have no idea why it's in C-class. I hope it wasn't me. i often do these things by accident.Bread Ninja (talk) 21:51, 28 May 2010 (UTC) It was kraftlos. no biggy, i'll fix it and set it to start.Bread Ninja (talk) 21:53, 28 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

GitS 2.0's soundtrack edit

I picked up a copy of the soundtrack to GitS 2.0 a while back, and I can't find any information about track #12. It's an instrumental with "BGM" in the title. Does anyone have anything on this? Willbyr (talk | contribs) 14:20, 7 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

i found the track. it's called Osamu Kara Kidou Tai Yokoku BGM. unfortunately, i cannot find the kanji to verify it, but i say it's pretty close to add it in. i'll look for verification. but for now i think it can be addedBread Ninja (talk) 00:03, 8 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

"Lithium Flower" derived from Imogen Heap's "Whatever" edit

It might be worth noting that the bulk of the melody of "Lithium Flower" is derived from Imogen Heap's "Whatever", first published on her debut album "iMegaphone" in 1998, i. e. about four years prior. -- 131.188.24.20 (talk) 15:06, 23 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sounds strikingly similar, but i don't think we can do that unless it's given proper credit.Bread Ninja (talk) 19:57, 23 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

It's not the only instance of striking similarities between Kanno's soundtracks and other preexisting tracks. For example, "Where Does This Ocean Go?", from the first O.S.T, sounds quite a bit like Björk's Hyperballad. But as Bread Ninja says, without some kind of statement from Kanno or her associates drawing a direct line between songs, the comparison is just speculative. Would it be better to change this to Ghost in the Shell:Stand Alone Complex? edit

like the section title says, would it be better to change this to stand alone complex OSts only with the other not related to S.A.C into their respected articles? apparently there is controversy with moving the OST's of the films over to here.Bread Ninja (talk) 17:53, 26 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

well i'll change it. if anyone here disagrees. pleae feel free to revert and we can discuss alternative methods.Bread Ninja (talk) 16:16, 28 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Ref dump edit

Title of O.S.T 4- edit

I know there's been some confusion over the "-" in the title of this disc; hopefully the image here: http://image4.play-asia.com/640/5h/pa.98754.3.jpg will provide some clarity. The title is printed twice on the outer label of the set, and in both cases the "-" after the "4" is detailed within a box , much like the "+" is in "O.S.T+". Should we infer from this that the "-" is part of the title? And if so, can we definitively include it in the article? NJMcLellan (talk) 17:06, 11 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

It looks like that its used to separate smooth in the shell. Its not really part of the title.Bread Ninja (talk) 19:42, 11 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hmmm... I'm still not sure. It seems rather redundant to use the "-" as a separator, especially where the kana of "Smooth in the Shell" is separated using brackets. Still, the uncertainty is enough reason to exclude it for now, unless some official source lists it as "O.S.T. 4-". NJMcLellan (talk) 19:54, 11 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Redundant how? Anyways....it seems the full title is O.S.T.4 –(マイナス) smooth in the shell.Bread Ninja (talk) 20:17, 11 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Track Listings edit

This page (and the corresponding one for Cowboy Bebop, perhaps others as well) takes liberties with the track and titles in a way which is probably intended as translation, but is somewhat confused and inconsistent. For example, ""Siberian Doll House" (シベリアン・ドール・ハウス, Shiberian Dōru Hausu)" when the correct title is in fact "シベリアン・ドール・ハウス", or, "The End of All You'll Know" instead of "the end of all you'll know" and " "PO'd Pod" instead of "po'd pod", yet "CHRisTmas in the SiLenT ForeSt" is the odd one out being depicted correctly. It would be better to come up with a way to list tracks faithfully and accurately, and, if necessary, separate translation concerns from the correct listings for clarity. After all, it is not the editor's job to correct syntax and capitalization on quoted material (especially when typographic styles have been deliberately chosen by the artist), nor is it a good idea to add extra information to the track title which does not appear on the original, such as unnecessary quote marks, phrases such as "such and such version" and "bonus track"). Solid State Society OST move edit

I initially had all ghost in the shell soundtracks merged here regardless if were made by separate group. Now the primary focus is stand alone complex related as it was mainly created by yoko kanno. However I was thinking if we can narrow it down even more by just focusing on the TV anime series only and moving the Solid State Society article. Would anyone be against that?Lucia Black (talk) 07:23, 13 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

also I understand the article is lacking in sources, so ill be primarily be looking for interviews and releases. I'm very bad at looking for oricon ranks so if anyone is good at that, it would be a great help if you add them in or just place them in the talk page if not confident enough to add it in.Lucia Black (talk) 08:23, 13 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

I agree that there's reason to exclude it from the series OSTs, but I think there might be a notability issue with giving the SSS OST its own page. However, it could be merged with Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. Solid State Society - this would track with the articles for Ghost in the Shell (1995 film) and Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence. NJMcLellan (talk) 15:33, 13 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

At the moment I highly doubt the soundtrack is notable on its own. I think it would make things simpler for the article to focus only on the TV series. Anyways, ill be merging the S.S.S. infov onto the main film.Lucia Black (talk) 19:37, 14 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Yoko Kanno ?? edit

In section "Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex", what does this sentence means? "Yoko Kanno The closing theme for Stand Alone Complex is "Lithium Flower", performed by Scott Matthew, with lyrics by Tim Jensen."

Is "Yoko Kanno" the name of the closing theme? Is "Yoko Kanno" a typo which should be deleted? 70.26.8.54 (talk) 15:25, 12 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
