GA Reassessment

As part of Wikipedia:WikiProject Good articles' Project quality task force, all past Good Articles are being re-reviewed to ensure compliance with current good article criteria. I have determined that it doesn't meet criteria for the reasons outlined below and needs a manageable amount of work if it is to retain its status, so I am putting it on hold for one week.

• The main issue is complain with Wikipedia's non-free content policy. File:Ff8sd.jpg might be allowable as the main focus of the article, but the sound clips (File:FITHOS LUSEC WECOS VINOSEC - Final Fantasy VIII mix.ogg and File:Piano Collections Final Fantasy VIII - Samples.ogg) are not the subject of significant critical commentary that would allow them to meet criteria. There's no discussion of single tracks. File:Dear Friends - Final Fantasy VIII.jpg could easily be replaced by a free shot of someone at the concert, et al, and does not meet crit. 1. File:EyesOnMeSmall.jpg is simply unnecessary and adds nothing beyond what the original cover art provided.
• "A total of 11 user-created reviews on Amazon.com reached an aggregate of 95.5% approval.[15]" Amazon user rankings are not worth mentioning. Ever.
• The following statements are unsourced:
  • "It is heard repeatedly throughout the game in various incarnations, including as an instrumental piece entitled Julia. Its full version is heard during a moment between Squall Leonhart and Rinoa Heartilly—the main protagonists—onboard the Ragnarok. It is played once more during the game's ending."
  • "In addition, a limited edition was produced, which has a beige background instead of a full motion video montage."
  • "The soundtrack features a Latin choral track "Liberi Fatali", arranged by Shiro Hamaguchi with the original Japanese lyrics written by scenario writer Kazushige Nojima and translated into Latin for the game by Latin translator Taro Yamashita. "Liberi Fatali" translates to "Fated Children". "Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec" is another song in the game, named after the recurring lyrics in "Liberi Fatali"; a similar track, "Succession of Witches", is featured on the Piano Collections album."

I've got this; I'm half-tempted to just let you delist it so that I can say I got every FF Music article to GA... but that sounds like a hassle, so I'll just save this one. Hopefully I can get to this today. --PresN 16:14, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
