Menteşe edit

I am trying to understand the status of the name Muğla relative to what I understand is a new name for what maybe formerly was known as Muğla Merkez (but maybe not). I read all sorts of sources, and tend to conclude that Menteşe is the name of a district, with Muğla as its capital (and still the capital of the province of the same name). But some people seem to use the new name as the better one. I published many pictures I took in Muğla , but when trying to locate them, they all seem to be in Menteşe's categories only. I am very much aware that people use top-level categories as a kind of waste-basket, putting the smallest villages in the main provincial category. But it seems the name Muğla (still in use on Google Maps, for instance) now is being avoided, and everything is put into a sub-category (Menteşe) that I think is a district. If I am right, I think several articles need improving for instance: is the sentence "Menteşe is a planned district and second level municipality" not a bit outdated, with its "planned"? It is in the article Menteşe (Muğla). I am a foreigner, and find the Turkish naming system trouble all the time. In The Netherlands, where I live, we have one province with the same name for the province and the capital, Groningen. I just checked, there is an explanatory text "English: Groningen is both the name of a province in the northern Netherlands and the capital of that province." With links to Groningen (Province) and Groningen (City). A feat Turkish provinces seem unable to. As for such a text for Muğla, I just created them for the province and town of Muğla, then encountered Menteşe and decided to ask for help here. Dosseman (talk) 18:27, 10 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
