Notability Criteria edit

What is the threshold of notability for an article? I will nominate this article for deletion unless someone can justify its existence. May I suggest creating an artice about Mount Scott, and include this community as a section of that article? Stephen Charles Thompson (talk) 07:11, 29 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Please read WP:NOTE. See Boring Lava Field for information about Mount Scott. (Why not start a separate article about the mountain and get rid of that redlink?) Usually neighborhoods and settlements have articles separate from the mountains after which they may be named. Although the existence of one article does not justify the existence of another (per WP:OTHERSTUFF), note that there are dozens of articles in {{Portland neighborhoods}} and you'll probably have a difficult time taking this to AfD since neighborhoods of major cities are usually considered notable. You may have to do a mass listing. I think you'd do better to research the history of the neighborhood. Let me know if you need assistance. For example, I own a book that states: "Arleta is part of Portland. It was named for Arleta Potter, daughter of T. B. Potter of the Potter-Chapin Realty Company, which put the addition on the market. Arleta post office was established February 2, 1904, and operated, later as a Portland substation, until 1965." In other words, you could send mail addressed to "Arleta, Oregon" until 1965. Oh, you may also want to read about stubs. Cheers, Katr67 (talk) 08:31, 29 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
