After doing a quick internet search on "Twelth Mass" I've found some archived newspaper articles from Australia and New Zealand that testify to the popularity of this work in the 19th Century.

"Christmas Day in Dunedin". The New Zealand Tablet. 30 December 1892. (Author did not believe it to be by Mozart.)
"Letter to the Editor: The Music of the Catholic Church". The New Zealand Tablet. 1 January 1892.
"Music". The Australiasian. 16 January 1892. (Discusses the authenticity issue in relation to the Mozart Centennary.)
"News and Notes". The West Australian. 22 March 1893. (Announces rehersals for the premier performance of the Twelth Mass in Perth, Western Australia.)
"Old Programmes: Cathedral Opening". The Central Queensland Herald (Rockhampton). 4 April 1935. (Describes the opening of the St Josephs Cathedral in Rockhampton, 13 October 1899, describes the Twelth Mass as "difficult".)

Amazingly high bass edit

In the Kyrie the bass goes up to an amazing G4! There must be a story behind this very risky note. Did the composer have access to amazingly high choral basses? Double sharp (talk) 14:28, 30 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Did you notice that in the score or in the YouTube video? Unfortunatly when the attribution of a composition is changed from that of a well known composer to a less well known composer, research, like performances falls off, so I've no idea what the current scolarship on this composition is.Graham1973 (talk) 16:15, 30 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
