You've got to be kidding me...

What a callow piece of writing. Could it be any more biased and poorly researched? This comes off as being written by a jilted lover, embittered by their own failure of being able to capture the hearts of one of these so-called "mama's boys". Particularly the atrociously broad-sweeping generalization, "In any case, a mother's boy cannot maintain a healthy partnership with a woman (Carruthers, 1998)," which fully implies that ALL men who are emotionally attached to their mothers cannot maintain a healthy and normal relationship with other women. Not quite - it just lists that as one of the signs, taken in consideration with other things. I'm attached to mom, and also have a nice new fiancee, and don't see what all the fuss is about. I recognise the type described here, and don't think it has to do with me. This article is fine as is/

"healthy" according to who's system of values? From the mother and child's points of view the son may be having a very healthy relationship with a woman - his mother. Anyway, I agree that this is a shoddy article that needs more references and reads like a piece of own research. This article would also benefit from a section of potrayal of "mother's boys" in popular culture eg Psycho, Psychoville, A Confederacy of Dunces. Totorotroll (talk) 10:41, 23 May 2011 (UTC)

Start Over?

I think the best thing to do in this case might to to simply start over from scratch. The language and manner of speaking is almost offense. It should be rewritten in a clear, unbiased, and professional manner. - signed by an anon IP

Pop Culture

The John Singleton films Boyz n the Hood and Baby Boy has portrayed the mama's boy culture although some view this as typecasting.

Carruthers? Should the "reference" or the article be deleted?

With a name like that, this may well be a fake reference! Should the reference or the whole article just be deleted, as not properly cited at all? An article on a pejorative subject is likely to be hijacked unless properly supported- what is WikiP policy? On the other hand, we should have a proper article here.
