Multiple Issues
editI see that this page has been tagged as having "multiple issues." I suppose you could say so, judging the article by the usual standards. But, for my part, I have found it impossible to find any sources, reliable or otherwise, with information about this elusive jazz musician. There is something of a mystery surrounding Budwig, in my opinion. For example, his birthplace is usually given as Pender, Nebraska. Yet, on a live album with Shelly Manne, Manne introduces his group, mentioning where each band member is from—and he says that Monty Budwig is from Nyack, New York. I have no idea where that came from. So was he born in Pender? In Nyack? Did he in fact live in both places at one time? Not likely he was living there then (1959), as he was performing in San Francisco, with a home base of Los Angeles. I have been unable to untangle any of this. If anyone else wants to try, good luck! I certainly feel that Budwig deserves more recognition than he has received, but there doesn't seem to be much out there on him.
As for other "issues," I'm sure there is much that could be improved and brought into conformity with Wikipedia standards, but it would be good to have an enumeration of what those issues are. --Alan W (talk) 03:06, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
- OK, I just realized that the issues are enumerated, but there are just two of them, not "multiple" issues, unless you think of "two" as "multiple." I guess the tag's wording is a bit confusing. Anyway, finding more references and expanding the article are tasks that I do not think will be easy to accomplish. I just reread the Allmusic article, and it seems to me odd how little there is about his early years. That may be typical of the kind of profile given there; but I can't find anything else elsewhere. The only thing I see that could readily be done to expand this article is to add a discography of some kind. --Alan W (talk) 03:48, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
