Dumb shutdown rant
edit- "The plant was shut to comply with a consent agreement reached to settle a 1998 CAA lawsuit brought by several environmental groups. ..."
The major E-W transcon NG pipelines cross the COlorado, one at Topock, nearby.
- "Dismantling got underway in October 2009 and is expected to take 2 years and cost $30 million. About 300 staff lost their jobs when the plant was closed."
Very poor timing on SCE's part, as this was about the time NG got really cheap. What were they thinking? (or not)
And, of course, there were those pesky "several environmental groups". Yet another foot-shooting for California's electricity supply. Good work, Guys!

- In case it's not clear, it's pretty near impossible to meet Clean Air standards burning coal. But dead easy burning NG, and converting the boilers is pretty simple. Why are CA's electric rates sky-high? Here's 1.6 MWE of the reasons.... Feh, Pete Tillman (talk) 17:20, 17 February 2017 (UTC)
