Requested move edit

The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: moved. I believe everything is in order; if I missed something, please let me know. As a side note, please do not half-complete moves; it makes tracking things down and closing difficult. ÷seresin 09:16, 2 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

"Mimia"Mimia"Mimia" and Mimia are articles discuss the same thing, but the inappropriately punctuated "Mimia" contains all of the information in Mimia plus more. Eventually Mimia needs to be turned into a disambiguation page, but before any of that happens the history of "Mimia" needs to be transferred to Mimia with this move. So Mimia should be deleted and "Mimia" should be moved to the vacated space. I will then list the newly created redirect "Mimia" at WP:RfD (since using quotation marks is not policy) unless the closing admin here is willing to go ahead and delete it. — The Man in Question (in question) 23:48, 28 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

  • Comment — I think you want to merge two articles, then move them to a 3rd page name, and create a dab page in place of one of them. Yes? You can do the merge without admin help. I recommend doing that first, then requesting a page move. --Una Smith (talk) 02:44, 29 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
My issue is not leaving "Mimia" with a significant history, which would slow down the deletion process in RfD. — The Man in Question (in question) 04:19, 29 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
Comment I think if you ask at WP:HISTMERGE, they could just merge the histories into the better name... 76.66.197.17 (talk) 05:34, 29 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
    I'll put in a request.The Man in Question (in question) 06:01, 29 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
  • Comment the two articles are on two different genera, so I suggest a dab page be built at the primary name, and this article be moved to say... Mimia (Actinopterygii) . 76.66.197.17 (talk) 05:40, 29 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
Doh. The rationale was so odd, I didn't get as far as looking at the articles. --Una Smith (talk) 15:30, 29 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
The issue is: "Mimia" should be deleted, but it won't be if it has a history. — The Man in Question (in question) 06:00, 29 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
You could move that page to Mimia (Hesperiidae). 76.66.197.17 (talk) 07:35, 29 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
Ah! Of course. I must be daft. However, now that I have completed all of that, this talk page has failed to move, so…

Talk:"Mimia"Talk:Mimia — I moved "Mimia", but the talk page failed to move. It needs to be moved because I plan to nominate "Mimia" for deletion, and the talk page should be preserved. — The Man in Question (in question) 08:42, 29 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

  • Comment all that's left is the talk page, I don't see why this needs to be moved at all, since there's only a WP:RM discussion on it. 76.66.197.17 (talk) 04:43, 30 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
