Talk:Miletich Fighting Systems

Latest comment: 6 years ago by InternetArchiveBot in topic External links modified (January 2018)

Why is there so much confusion on this topic.. it was good for a while with detailed fighter lists.. and details on the fighting style.. I don't get what happened? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.81.58.242 (talk) 21:12, 31 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Noone kept up with them, and noone expanded them. They were little more than stub articles that stayed frozen in time.Unak78 (talk) 14:28, 1 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Response to merging edit

This article should definitely not be merged with the Pat Miletich page. Both the individual and the organization he runs are notable in their own right and each deserve pages. --128.193.4.98 19:28, 2 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

agree, merging is not a good idea. hateless 03:43, 3 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
agreed, merging is a bad idea... at least let's keep this as a stub and have it expanded in the future... much less

prominent MMA houses have their own page on wikipedia, don't see why a house with as many acclaimed fighters as MFS shouldn't Toodiesel (talk) 13:56, 27 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I agree that none of the MMA team or organization pages should be merged or deleted. My suggestion is that someone submit a writeup on all of the teampage stubs with at least 5 to 10 accredited references from ESPN, SI.com, or other sports-related sites to facilitate the fleshing out of the various house pages beginning with this one. I have already written good startup pages on Chute Boxe and the Pit. We need to be more proactive as a group on getting these pages done and looking more complete.Unak78 (talk) 14:25, 1 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Unless this page is expanded to explain what the MFS is, and what separates it from other martial arts systems, then it probably should be merged. However, I would rather see it properly expanded to give more authoritative information about MFS. Durandus 05:46, 6 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Add Current/former fighters edit

Maybe someone should add current and former fighters to the list, one current off the top of my head is Tim Syliva, a former well known one would be Matt Hughes

is Roger Huerta training in MFS? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Vik.sanchez (talkcontribs) 15:11, 9 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Proposed Edit edit

{{editprotected}} Request that article Miletich Fighting Systems (IFL camp) as an extension of the existing article. Concensus was previously reached in the discussion for the proposed merger for two other articles of the same nature. The discussion is being archived and can be seen on the IFL Talk Page. Due to the current state of this article I did not include it in the merger discussion but the same caveats that applied to the two articles in question also apply here. In addition the code with whicj the article's main logo is displayed has also changed. Example of the requested changes are as follows with a merge/redirect link from the IFL article:

This is not a change that an editprotected request can handle. Also, the content listed above is not even an article - it's just a list of fights. See WP:NOT#STATS. — Carl (CBM · talk) 15:19, 7 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
I've made part of this edit. I agree with Carl that the list of fights isn't really appropriate - we're not a directory and that information is best left to Sherdog. However, I did include the category and information about the IFL fight team itself. Also, a general note to administrators who come across this page via CAT:PER - it is OK to make just about any edit as long as it does not concern the ownership of MFS' affiliate schools or the dispute between Pat Miletich and Dave Kujawski. east.718 at 01:16, April 8, 2008

Proposed: Delete IFL Records From This Page edit

Im my opinion, everything below: "Record/Roster" should be deleted. This wikipedia page should be about the Miletich Fighting Systems MMA camp primarily, which is one of the most historically relevant in the sport. The Miletich Fighting Systems camp basically contributed the "silverbacks" team in the IFL but this is only a small part of it's history. Actual IFL records should be in an IFL or Silverbacks page and not here, which is a page about the actual MMA fight camp. I think the section headed "IFL fight team" covers this in about as much detail as is required here. With four years' hindsight, the IFL did not take off and did not significantly influence the sport of MMA.

What is significant about the camp is that it trained many many MMA champions including UFC champions and for this reason will be remembered centrally in MMA history. I suggest replacing this whole section with a list of championships won by camp fighters. I have heard it claimed in articles that Barb Honchak's win of the IFC Flyweight Championship was the camp's 15th world championship. The page should reflect this.

I am happy to delete this section and replace it with something else myself but felt it was better to put this here and recieve feedback before deleting someone else's work.
