Old discussions (from 2005) edit

The URL of the original source was given in the article itself! --Brumburger 09:43, 27 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

Oh no... naughty, naughty, its the crime of the century, I know, lets list it as copyright rather than edit out the copyright vio bit to help wikipedia... Oops, sorry, I just noticed that you did that already, WOW, youre a real asset to wikipedia. LOL ;) Nick Boulevard 23:00, 28 July 2005 (UTC)Reply
That's it Nick. A request for arbitration is coming up. I take it from this comment that you admit original (anonymous) authorship of this article, which was entirely taken from another website. --Brumburger 07:24, 29 July 2005 (UTC)Reply
Brumburger,
After the week I've had you go ahead and do as you wish.
For the record, No! I do not claim original authorship, I have no idea who wrote that article but for the good of Wikipedia I am in the process of clearing it to be used on here by contacting the museum, I will see what I can do so that the article can remain, if not then I agree it should be deleted... of course. Many thanks Nick Boulevard 23:06, 29 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

WEST MIDLANDS ROUTES QUESTION: Were Midland Red's routes within the West Midlands technically transferred to the West Midlands Passenger Transport *Executive* (not Authority) in *1974* (not 1973)? Unremitting 21:50, 17 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

CARYLE WORKS: is it relevant to mention the former Midland Red central works was latterly a major converter of minibuses? Unremitting 21:53, 17 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Midland Red was also the name of a folk band in Leicester in the late 1970s. They were named after the bus company or at least with reference to it, but also to the politics of the music. ```` —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.189.164.16 (talk) 19:50, 9 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hmm... "First has taken over Midland Red West, trading initially as First Wyvern and latterly simply as First." I'm sure I remember them being "First Midland Red" when First took over. Perhaps First Wyvern wasn't a universal trading name? Beeurd (talk) 21:07, 28 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

^^^ Midland Red West Limited changed their name to "First Midland Red Buses Limited" on 26th March 1999. This the the legal company name which remains to this date, and can be seen on the legal lettering shown on the sides of their vehicles. "First Midland Red", "First (in the) Midlands" and "First Wyvern" are various names used since c. March 1998. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.151.53.87 (talk) 09:13, 15 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Cleanup edit

Added a clean up tag as most of article is a giant list and bus route info which may be more suited to UK Transport wiki or similar projects. No references, and lack of info like were company is actually originally from, so history could perhaps be expanded to balance article out - BulldozerD11 (talk) 03:21, 8 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

The list of former routes is incomplete - I lived in Wythall in the 1960's and 1970's. I believe the following Midland Red routes operated

148 Birmingham to Evesham 348 Birmingham to Evesham via Harvington 170 Wythall to Acocks Green Via Grimes Hill 172 Wythall to Acocks Green Via Alcester Road 179 Earlswood to Birmingham.

In the Mid 1970's these were replaced

170/172 were withdrawn and replaced by a WMPTE bus to Solihull, The Birmingham to Evesham buses were routed via Redditch - I think there was a 248 from Birmingham to Redditch Via Wythall - I am right?

I also believe the Birmingham- Redditch was the 147. Birmingham - Stratford upon Avon Bus was the 150. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.140.8.94 (talk) 10:39, 26 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

When these buses operated by Trent were a regular sight where I live, I was told SOS stood for "Shires Own Specification" 10:15, 19 September 2021 (UTC)~
