Talk:Metro Ethernet

Latest comment: 2 years ago by Bwoodcock in topic Yep, high time for a re-write.

Is this the 90's? edit

Quote from second paragraph: due to the prevalent use of Ethernet in corporate and, more recently, residential networks.

I am pretty sure ethernet at home has been around for a while. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Webdawg (talkcontribs) 01:04, 8 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

COI edit

Hello - I'm currently working on the Hatteras Networks page (please see my COI declaration at Talk:Hatteras_Networks) and have added the company to the list of vendors supplying Metro Ethernet equipment. I have linked the two articles, as the Hatteras article currently is noted as an orphan. Please let me know if you have any questions; I would warmly welcome any suggestions or edits to the Hatteras article. Mdrozdowski (talk) 20:37, 26 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

About three years later, and that link is no longer in this article (and that article's name was changed too, evidently due to a merger) so the COI template can probably go away. There are a couple old uncited assertions that should also disappear probably. W Nowicki (talk) 16:25, 21 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Rewrite edit

This article needs to be almost entirely rewritten. A very small portion of the article is sourced (there are multiple large unsourced sections), much of the formatting is inconsistent or incorrect, there are many instances of second-person pronouns, etc. As I have time I will begin trimming down the article; anyone who's willing please be bold to improve the article, keeping in mind the standards of verifiability and neutrality. —danhash (talk) 00:06, 27 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

I have begun removing a large amount of unsourced content. Some of this content may be appropriate to add back, but we must have more sources. —danhash (talk) 00:17, 27 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Yep, high time for a re-write. edit

I agree with the suggestion that this be re-done under the title "Carrier Ethernet," since that's less ambiguous nowadays. Also, capitalization matters: the Metropolitan Area Ethernet, the MAE, was the first IXP. A metropolitan area Ethernet is a metro-scale Ethernet WAN. So, yeah. Happy to participate in a group effort, but not sure I have time to take it on myself and do it justice. Bill Woodcock (talk) 01:27, 8 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Errr, ok, so a Carrier Ethernet article already exists. Merge! Bill Woodcock (talk) 01:29, 8 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
