Solomonid dynasty

The article states that Menelik I founded the Solomonid dynasty. However, that article says the Solomonid dynasty did not come about until 1270 upon the fall of the Zagwe dynasty. Or is this based on assertions in the Kebra Negast? For that matter, was the country called "Ethiopia" during Menelik I's lifetime? the Zagwe overthrew the Solomonic dynasty briefly, from 1137 to 1270. Otherwise it was Solomon all the way. 213.55.95.193 (talk) 15:41, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

Date of reign

Menelik is said to have reigned in 200 B.C. The prophet Isaia lived in 700 B.C. and was a contemporary of Hezekiah. Solomon lived several hundred years before Hezekiah and Isaiah. Thanks for pointing that out. While "Regnal Chronologies" is often a great and fascinating source, this time it seems a little suspect. All Ethiopian sources I have ever read, place Menelik I around ca. 950 BC, so if no one objects, I am going to revise the article accordingly. Til Eulenspiegel (talk) 13:01, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

Photo of the Mausoleum of Menelik I

This is more likely the Mausoleum of Menelik II. Menelik I is a semi-legendary figure, & there is no record of where he was buried. (Maybe not even in Ethiopia?) Menelik II, however, founded Addis Ababa & most likely was buried in this city. I suggest this photo be pulled until a reliable source can be found that confirms this building is a mausoleum or cenotaph for the earlier emperor. -- llywrch (talk) 18:35, 26 July 2019 (UTC)
