Rename suggestion

Since this article is specific to the US organization, I think we may want to rename to "Girl Scout Ranks (USA)" or "Ranks (Girl Scouts of the USA)". We should also do something similar for the Gold/Silver/Bronze awards. Thoughts. --Erp 00:25, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Also is rank the correct terminology? Levels might be more appropriate. A google search shows 'levels' is used more frequently than 'ranks'. So does "Girl Scout levels (USA)" sound like a good choice for a name?--Erp 00:32, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

I've been searching around and trying to go through my books, and they call it age levels for the most part, so I guess just call it Levels of the Girl Scouts USA. Darthgriz98 02:46, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

level would be more appropriate, the term 'ranks' usually means the awards.

Article needs to be updated in light of the new changes announced:

AMENDMENT OF MEMBERSHIP STANDARDS

MOVED by Mrs. Matthews, and seconded,

WHEREAS, To meet the needs of girls, it is necessary to differentiate groups by grade level, thereby requiring a realignment of membership age groups and the addition of a new identifying name; and WHEREAS, To strengthen the Girl Scout brand, the words “Girl Scout” will be included and emphasized at the beginning of each identifying name;

RESOLVED, That the following membership age groups and identifying names be effective October 1, 2008:

Grades Names

K-1 Girl Scout Daisy

2-3 Girl Scout Brownie

4-5 Girl Scout Junior

6-8 Girl Scout Cadette

9-10 Girl Scout Senior

11-12 Girl Scout Ambassador

and further RESOLVED, That this action supersede and rescind all previous National Board action on membership standards. Adopted

Hm, I'm not quite sure. It does come after senior and if it isn't recognized as a formal level, I personally consider it a level. Since it's a form of adult scouting I think it could be. Darthgriz⁹⁸ 15:28, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

I did not even see that I had brought this up before. The proper name of the association is "Girl Scouts of the USA" and should be used in full. We have Ranks in Scouts BSA, Advancement and recognition in the Boy Scouts of America, History of the Boy Scouts of America and so forth. --Gadget850 ( Ed) 14:12, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

To be pedantic the full formal name is "Girl Scouts of the the United States of America". Prepending that with "Age levels in the" makes for a rather long name.--Erp 15:14, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
