Proposed merge of Draft:Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 into Melodifestivalen 2024

Oppose. I understand it may be too soon to approve the current draft, however I think it should not be merged into the other since it is common practice for these articles to be separate – over time, the former will turn into a more general article while the latter a more detailed one about the national competition. As IvanScrooge98 points out there are very good reasons to continue to split these articles. However, as was the case for the Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 article, a separate article is not required at this time and will not be required until after Melodifestivalen has concluded. What happens to the draft in the meantime is another question; a redirect already exists which points to this article, and I am neutral as to whether the draft continues to be developed or is deleted for now. Withdraw - User:IvanScrooge98 and User:Sims2aholic8 have persuaded me that the music festival that selects the national entry and the national entry itself are two separate topics. I will be resubmitting and accepting Draft:Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024.

"Final Qualification" shortening for the tables

@Sims2aholic8 Should we shorten "Final Qualification" somehow in the result column of the heat tables? I think it's a bit too long. Also to avoid any confusion with "Final" as they start with the same word. Perhaps "F. Qualification" or "FQ", either in an Abbr template? —Dimsar01 ^Talk ⌚→ 17:31, 29 February 2024 (UTC)

Does it need to be shortened? It doesn't appear to me (viewing the page on a laptop) that the columns are being stretched because of it. With the votes and points columns, the size of the headers plus the sorting button, that cell is still gonna be quite large whether we abbreviate the term or not, so my feeling right now would be to leave it. If after this week's heat or after the final when the full results are released the columns look more stretched then potentially it could be abbreviated, but I think right now we should just leave it as is. As is, it's "Run-off", that's why it's okay. If you change it to "Final Qualification", the column is quite wide (has no sorting either). I'll change it in the first two to compare. —Dimsar01 ^Talk ⌚→ 20:28, 29 February 2024 (UTC)

I understand now, I thought you were talking about the column headers in the final qualification table! I would be happy to shorten to "Final qual." for these columns with an explanation using the Abbr template that it means Final qualification. Sims2aholic8 (talk) 21:01, 29 February 2024 (UTC)

Should the R/O cells be header cells?

I don't understand why the first cell of a row must be header? It should only if it makes sense logically, in which case it doesn't.

Here's an example of a table that needs the first cell of a row to be header:

Ok, I just think that function should be prioritized and given that header cells have a purpose (especially in screen readers), we should not be using them for appearance. Cause someone with a screen reader might want to read just the headers of a table for example, and after "Running Order", "Artist" etc. they'll listen to all numbers from 11 to 20 in the final qualification table, which could be confusing. —Dimsar01 ^Talk ⌚→ 15:46, 5 March 2024 (UTC)

Why does every MF article for 2021-2024 now have the row of the last finisher denoted in red for the grand final results?

For the semi-finals, red denotes entries that got knocked out. But for the grand-final, it's only used for whoever got last place. Not only is this unnecessarily mean, it's not used for any articles for MFs prior to 2021 nor any other Eurovision national final. Did someone vandalize the articles? Should we revert it?
