This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... (your reason here) --Snyderpickerill (talk) 23:34, 11 November 2011 (UTC) he is running for US house of representatives. This is not promotional but to offer reference and for public knowledge of who is running in the 13th district of Illinois. It is important people know who the candidates are, and even as he is a State's Attorney, a public figure, information on him should be widely available and easily accessible. This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... (your reason here) --Snyderpickerill (talk) 23:47, 11 November 2011 (UTC) I am also not finished editing it yet. I need more time to learn how to do this properly and fix it up to wikipedia's standards. I will get more sources and I still need to learn how to divide it up by topics.Snyderpickerill (talk) 23:47, 11 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Merely running for office does not make a subject notable. You have to show that he meets Wikipedia's criteria for biographies: see WP:BIO. ... discospinster talk 01:17, 12 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
Based on the username Snyderpickerill it appears this bio may have been created by http://spmediagroup.com/ a political media firm owned by Ken Snyder and Terrie Pickerill. It is pretty obvious you two. The firm has worked with several politicians in Illinois. Goetten is one of their clients. I know because I work at the courthouse. Ken, Terrie, tell Matt that I said, "Say hi to Marty." for me. He will understand. Ooooo and just to catch you two up to speed with this lovely thing called the Internet, it looks REALLY BAD for your client when your try to exploit a site like Wikipedia for promotion. If he had more importance politically this would be damaging news. CamRock85 (talk) 03:07, 29 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
"Goetten created a victim’s advocate in Greene County." and a former victim's advocate has some very interesting things to say about Matt Goetten and her time working under him. Where is that article at? In fact, where are all the negative articles about Goetten? This bio, if it does remain, needs to be more neutral. He has receives a lot of negative press over the years. I try to assume good faith, but that is hard to do considering the closeness of the creating editors name to a media firm Goetten is a client of and the fact that there is no negative info about him on this bio though it exists in mass. Snyderpickerill you did not state why this should be kept. You have also avoided questions debating the issue. You have not been upfront about your connection to Goetten either which is obvious to anyone who searches the your username.CamRock85 (talk) 03:33, 3 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Accepted weak plea deal in case involving the starvation death of over a dozen horses

edit

That fact about Goetten's career should be mentioned. Perhaps in a controversy section? It was reported on numerous websites in the US and I've seen articles from the UK and Germany as well. Many feel that the defendant was given a slap on the wrist. She starved a total of around 30 animals and many died but she got off with a weak sentence because the plea deal that Goetten accepted as States Attorney. Many felt it happened because the defendant is the daughter of a local sheriff and at the time she worked for Illinois corrections. Animal rights groups were furious.CamRock85 (talk) 03:44, 3 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
