Can someone supply the reason that it lost the US designation. FWIW the stretch north of Port Deposit just got repaved and is a joy to drive on.--J Clear 01:15, 24 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

As the article now states, it is due to the 90-degree turn, the low railroad bridge and the steep grades. One thing I don't understand though is why US 222 was simply not rerouted via Truck MD 222. -TheOneKEA

That's new information to me: "What is now MD 222 was originally designated MD 268." Try inserting a comment that this MD 268 is not to be confused with MD 268 running nowadays along North Street in Elkton, elsewhere in Cecil County.
