Wording, referencing, and neutrality issues

edit

Hi, due to my being a new Wikipedia editor who lacks specific knowledge on this subject, I have chosen not to edit this page myself, but I felt I could contribute by pointing out that this article has what seems to me to be consistently non-encyclopedic wording, a lack of citations, as well as a lack of neutrality, especially in both subsections of the religous marriage section. For instance, 'Marriage has the greatest benefits over other social interests' is not cited, is made redundant by the following sentence (also not cited), and appears to be expressing an opinion. If the sentence were to be kept, perhaps it would be better phrased as 'Many Indonesian Muslims feel marriage offers great benefit to society', along with a citation? There are other examples of similar problems in the article, which I believe merit fixing by someone with the knowledge to do so, as marriage and religion are important social issues that I feel Wikipedia should avoid misrepresenting. Also, the lead appears to me to be overly short and to a minor degree lacking in neutrality. What do other editors think about this? Wetnmm (talk) 12:39, 4 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

I agree, this article seems to be a translation of some kind of clerical or legal document. It doesn't have a neutral wording, and seems to be endorsing conservative Islamic views of marriage, rather then giving any specific stats or information about marriage in Indonesia generally. Yeah, the Islam section certainly fails WP:NPOV. Also states that "there is a bond between birth and abtin", but I've been unable to find any pertinent reference to that term. Fabrickator (talk) 03:21, 26 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
