Marc Cooper's Support of Bernie Sanders

The article should probably include Marc Cooper's frequently expressed support for Bernie Sanders' 2016 campaign. A typical example would be his article, "What the Hell is Happening?" which appeared in the Feb. 29, 2016 LA PROGRESSIVE. It contains the line "If you are a Bernie Sanders supporter, as I am...". It interested me at the time as an example of Cooper's complex mixture of political savvy and naivete. He mentioned, almost in passing, that Sanders had just had his butt handed to him in the South Carolina primary. This was to happen in many other primaries, which Clinton won by millions of votes. Cooper believed that a huge groundswell of progressives and populists might somehow emerge, against all odds, and carry Sanders to victory. Cooper believed him to be a viable candidate inspite of his clear failures to engage the votes of minorities and mainstream Dems. Cooper does not seem to have considered what the election outcome would be when the Dem/lefty/progressive vote is split. Younggoldchip (talk) 14:07, 5 June 2022 (UTC)

slant and other problems

There's plenty here about how Cooper is harshly critical of everyone else, but nothing about what anyone else thinks of him (other that some people were "ruffled"--not a very encyclopedic statement).

We're told that he has criticized the liberal position on gun control, with no explanation of what that is or what his objections are. And in the same sentence we are told that he is tired of and annoyed at "affluent" liberals living in 6000 sq ft houses ... what does this have to do with gun control? Do most liberals who favor gun control live in 6000 sq ft houses? Are most people living in 6000 sq ft houses liberals? Are there any non-liberals who support gun control with positions he isn't critical of? The sentence reeks of shallow and intellectually dishonest polemics, but it's hard to tell whether that more reflects Cooper or the editor who wrote it. (I suppose they could be the same person.) If Cooper's attitude isn't as shallow and ill-considered as it appears here, it ought to be fleshed out with more context. And if his criticism of the liberal position on gun control (whatever that is ... I don't think all liberals have the same position) is not that there are affluent liberals living in 6000 sq ft homes then those should be separated.

Which years are those? This article seems to have been written around 2010. Has Cooper done and said nothing since?

Also, this is a section on Cooper's personal views, but it seems highly selective ... he's spent a lifetime publicly airing his personal views, and I'm pretty sure they have not all been critical of liberals and the left, but people like Ronald Reagan and Henry Kissinger (and Pinochet) get no mention here.

Also, there's an info box about Pacifica mentioning that Cooper is "former personnel", but zero mention in the article of his time at KPFK and the very significant events leading to his departure.
