Is this something different than Malthusian catastrophe?--Ancient Anomaly (talk) 02:26, 27 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

-Yes, this is something different from the Malthusian catastrophe, though it is, of course, related. The main difference is that this article will describe the state of the world macroeconomics before the industrial revolution, while the Malthusian catastrophe appears to be mostly speculative theories about how the world after the industrial revolution might return to that state. These are, to me, quite different in enough ways to require a new article. For example, the article describing the background and causes for the industrial revolution is not well served by one that speculates about the end of oil and life as we know it. I am therefore restoring the article, which I will elaborate further. DonSiano (talk) 15:37, 28 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Dr. Moav's comment on this article edit

Dr. Moav has reviewed this Wikipedia page, and provided us with the following comments to improve its quality:

"technological advances and discoveries" - I would prefer "technological advances and improvements in productivity"

the main idea of "A Farewell to Alms," is based on the paper by Galor and Moav (footnote 12).

There is a lot missing here from the Malthusian argument. The "positive check" and the "preventative check" and many other details and explanations.

We hope Wikipedians on this talk page can take advantage of these comments and improve the quality of the article accordingly.
