Fair use rationale for Image:LRMad.jpg edit

Image:LRMad.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 23:20, 5 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

I addressed the "fair use" issue buy adding the following "This is the album cover to which the article refers and is solely used to illustrate the album in question." on the Image:LRMad.jpg page. (RJL Hartmans 13:31, 7 June 2007 (UTC)).Reply

mad love lp is not Punk or Hard Rock, lol edit

this album cannot be objectively categorized as Punk Rock or Hard Rock. it`s hilarious to see it listed as such, and we all enjoy a smirky chuckle, but we must uphold wkpdia`s integrity. i`m actually listening to this LP for the 1st time ever as i write this. track 5, `hurts so bad`- i would love to see a cogent argument that this is punk rock! even robt christgau couldnt do that!

so what`s polite protocol here? should i wait 2 months to see if anyone defends this lite, corporate, radio friendly confection as punk, hard rock, or even new wave before changing the article? Fp cassini (talk) 15:22, 14 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

No not even close to Punk edit

This ain't Punk or I'm Sid Vicious... which I obviously _am not_ since I'm alive and typing this. (Ow! Nancy, that hurt!)

It's too highly produced to be even "New Wave". Another thing that really lets it out of New Wave is that it is _not_ DIY enough (or at all)... all cover songs... studio musicians. Not really edgegy enough... Punk? BAH!!

It's a bunch of alt-/power-pop tunes (good ones) that I'd have to seriously listen to the album to decide if I'd even say it lives up to Power Pop in its style and execution.

A record company shot at putting Linda out there to ride on the coat-tails of The Go Gos and Joan Jett and various girl-fronted "New Wave" bands.

I'd immediately whack Punk Rock from the description myself; only... I'm not sure what to replace it with!

Need a new category... hmm... "Corporate Wave", "Label Wave", "Industry Wave", "Co-op Wave" (or "Cop-out Wave"?), "Faux Wave" [or "Fox Wave" -- not for the "chick" for Fox "News" :) ] ?

Not that it's a bad album... good songs by familiar names, with a different twist, that I got as soon as it came out. I'd have to pull out the _turntable_ to revisit this album. :)

  • I agree with the assessment that this is not a punk or new wave album. Closest it comes is the closing track is done in the style of Lene Lovich. However especially since the release of the Ronstadt documentary, I have seen enough online and printed sources erroneously categorizing Mad Love that I felt it justified to add a line in the article stating that this error is being made. Musically, the album really isn't much different in style than any of her late-70s albums. 70.73.90.119 (talk) 17:57, 10 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
