I believe M is Algerian, not Moroccan.

2nd paragraph confusing

edit

The original Monet St. Croix joined the Generation X team as the mysterious mutant Penance, a mute, childlike mutant with razor sharp skin and an affinity for apples. It was later determined that Monet's two younger sisters Nicole and Claudette St. Croix had been impersonating the real Monet, who had been trapped in the form of Penance. The four St. Croix children all possess some form of powers; in addition to M and Penance, their brother Marius is the vampiric mutant Emplate. In Generation X issue #40, the original Monet was returned to her M form.

I think this paragraph could use some reworking, since I don't really understand all the connections/evnets it's trying to describe.--beeboo 19:48, 25 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

Nationality

edit

Just wondering, if Monet is from Monaco, how is it that her sisters are from Algeria and the first Penance is from Yugoslavia? RIANZ 22:23, 31 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Their mother is from Algeria, and Penance had images of Yugoslvai in her mind and her father is very rich and often lives in his main home in Monacco, so when they retconned everything together to make her story simpler, she ended up with passports to the former Yugslavia now Bosnia, France, and Algeria Minity 9:27, 1 February 2007

Too many images

edit

This article is cluttered with images; some need to be removed. --DrBat 04:11, 11 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I removed some of the images of her and Synch, especially since the most signifigant involving his death can be found on his page. I left the one with Madrox because it is a current picture of her, but Im sure she has done something more signifigant in X-factor than kiss Multiple Man. Also does her time in generation X really need to be broken into so many parts? --Minity 10:35 11 February 2007

Considering the nature of her generation x years it is important to divide it into these many subsctions as for having too many pictures, I suppose it did. As you said, I guess each section does not need its own picture as I originally thought. At the time I was new and was under the impression that each section needed exemplification. I though (my opinion) that the kiss with madrox was essential to her characterization in x-factor so forgive me if you dont see the relivance of the picture. Her other x-factor picture is used as her official image. I'll try to scan a better image for her x-factor section. Any other problems with any of my other images feel free to voice and i'll remove them ASAP.

Thanks Ryonslaught 20:20, 14 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

If we wanted a picture that identified her character "thus far in the series" a better one would probably be one from the Examinations issue with Doc Samson. Kissing someone doesnt make her like Emma Frost, especially since that isnt mentioned anywhere in the comic book, nor the article (if we did add that, it would be speculation, which is not allowed on Wikipedia). Also each section doesnt need a picture, you could just wait until she does something substantial in X-Factor before adding one. About the page being pathetic, it was short and filled with only vital information (granted a few things could have been re-worded), but wikipedia is a dictionary not a biography, it isnt supposed to be a step by step of someone's (or something's) life. If she continues to be a popular character, her history will grow more, the generation X information will become shortened to only vital information again. This is why we post links to outside sources so people can read the in depth summaries. Minity 22:28, 14 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well You do raise some good points and I look forward to how you will edit this page.Additionally I'll try to cut down on the over extensivity of my character profiles, since your right in that this page should only have "Vital" information Thanks in advance. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Strength

edit

How strong is she? 69.209.207.188 (talk) 05:29, 15 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

I dont think the upper limits of her strength have been determined (Minity (talk) 14:20, 2 August 2008 (UTC))Reply
That's just stupid really?? She could be like nigh-invulnerable, stronger than the Sentry, or Superman. Savre (talk) 00:42, 25 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Main image

edit

The main image is in sore need of a replacement. The current one is too cluttered, shows very little of her to identify as a main image, and hardly features her so much as her and Rictor's head and a bunch of random spheres everywhere. If someone can locate a more focused image of Monet in her current costume, that would be ideal. I'll look around myself, but I figured I'd throw the request out there.Luminum (talk) 05:05, 28 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Who killed their mother?

"After Cartier apologized to his son, Marius finally revealed that he was the one responsible for the death of his mother, which only further infuriated Monet.". Which "he" - Marius or Cartier? --Irrevenant [ talk ] 05:21, 14 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Anti-Muslim Culture

edit

I edited the pervious statement, which was a blanket statement that all America was anti-Muslim. Nothing could be further from the truth. While there will always be bigots living in the hills somewhere or a few people might blame an entire group for the actions of a few; Americans are, on the whole, a open and understanding people who respect people of all walks of faith, whether Christianity or one of the World Religions such as Islam, Hindu, Buddhism . . . etc etc, even Evolutionists and Militant Environmentalist (which are practically religions nowadays) or people are just plain agonistic. Most of the talk about America being anti-Muslim is just propaganda from either America-Haters or one certain political party (or other organizations on their behalf) against another political party. So I changed the sentence to read about anti-Muslim in America culture within the Marvel Universe, which can exist there just like anti-mutant culture. 173.209.103.239 (talk) 18:26, 5 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Post merge - what to do with fictional character biography

edit

I've had a quick stab at merging in Penance after the AfD on that character. Both the M article as was and the Penance article had large sections for "Fictional character biography", and I've merged in some parts of the the later with the former, but mostly I've just left the later out as it mostly seems to be covered - would be great to get another set of eyes on how I've reconciled them and to see if I've left anything of worth out.

That said, both "Fictional character biography" sections were overlong and suffer from WP:PLOTSUMNOT and MOS:INUNIVERSE issues. It might be that leaving some excessive Penance detail out is for the best because I think what remains needs a pretty brutal edit down - I would propose chopping it down to a brief summary of M/Penance's role in each title they have appeared in, no more than a few lines. It would also be great to get more third party sources for appearances instead of using issues as citations. Artw (talk) 19:45, 22 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
