I was a little girl in 1956 when we sailed on the Skaubryn from Singapore to the UK.
My father was in the RAF, and we had lived in Seletar RAF base in Singapore.
I remember the troops drank the barrels dry, according to my mother, the crew said they had never known people drink as much alcohol as the British.
Nothing has changed has it.
