It is a clear and obvious violation of WP:BLP to focus on one particular journalist in this article, especially when it is done with the clear purpose of attacking that journalist. From the text offered, we are supposed to conclude that Eldar admitted supporting terrorism and moreover admitted being a bad journalist. Nothing of the sort is true, nor is it supported by the given source. What Eldar in fact wrote is "I am a journalist with a mission, and also no small amount of passion. Every Israeli with a conscience, in particular one who watches reality from up close on a daily basis, cannot write about the occupation from an objective observer's neutral point of view. My parents immigrated to Israel in 1933 out of choice and hope, not out of despair or fear. Sixty years ago, shortly after I was born, they sat glued to the radio when David Ben-Gurion proclaimed the establishment of a Jewish state that would be democratic, egalitarian and peaceful. My primary mission is to leave behind for my children and grandchildren a state that is loyal to these principles and values." Then later "There is no symmetry between the occupier and the occupied. This seems to be altogether a useless article. It is all about a single article by a single journalist (Barnea) that is not even cited here let alone quoted. The two JP links don't work. - You may not agree with Eldar's mission, but that doesn't turn it into a WP:BLP violation. The sources are clear and it appears that the article employed very careful wording, including directly quoting Eldar himself. I hope this is not a WP:IDONTLIKEIT disguised as WP:BLP. I suspect that's the case because no alternative wording was suggested instead of the blanket deletion. --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 19:49, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
- Actually the quotation appeared to be carefully selected to give the false impression that Eldar admits to be a supporter of terrorism. If you have access to the original article of Barnea, a reasonable addition to this page would be a list of the journalists he named, linked to their respective pages. - I don't have access to the original artilce. But the main part of info on Eldar is taken from an oped written by Eldar himself. [1] I'm open to alternative wording suggestion, but the wholesale deletion, is probably not the ideal approach. Best, --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 21:56, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
