Pseudo-headings edit

@Narky Blert: The MoS discourages the use of pseudo-headings for accessibility reasons. Is there a good reason to change to them here? Nick Number (talk) 15:24, 3 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Nick Number: None at all, now that I've seen that bit of the MOS; boldface would do perfectly well if any subdivision be needed. I made a drive-by edit to remove a duplicate section title and an unnecessary-looking infobox from this version of the page. Narky Blert (talk) 15:35, 3 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
If I'm understanding the intention correctly, using standard section headings and __NOTOC__ or {{TOC limit}} should accomplish the same thing without hurting accessibility. I've put the former in place. Nick Number (talk) 15:50, 3 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
The reason semicolon markup is discouraged is because it is a misuse of an HTML definition list that can cause distracting readout on screen readers. Boldface markup is given as an example of a "correct" pseudoheading (i.e., one that causes the least annoyance for screen reader users). olderwiser 15:55, 3 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
WP:PSEUDOHEAD says "try to avoid using bold markup", and only suggests using it "In cases where {{TOC limit}} cannot be used because of lower-level headings elsewhere in the article". That isn't the case here, so I don't see why there's any need to change the existing section headings once __NOTOC__ has been added. Nick Number (talk) 17:53, 3 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
Except there is no issue whatsoever with the size of the TOC (and I really see no reason for __NOTOC__ since the TOC doesn't display regardless of which heading styles are used here). The purpose of these labels is simply to group some of the entries (and whatever it might say in WP:PSEUDOHEAD, if you follow discussions on the talk page, bold is often suggested as an alternative in cases where true headings are undesirable (for whatever reason). That said, I have to question whether much of the content even belongs on this page. I really don't see any need to include the following on this disambiguation page:
And all of the entries except the last under Associated names belong on either Louis (given name) or Louis (surname). olderwiser 20:55, 3 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
