DOB check edit

Sources mostly indicate c. 1938, except for the Trojan Records bio which indicates 1946:

  • Trojan Records - 18 April 1946, raised in Trench Town (no explicit birth place indicated)
  • Allmusic - 1938, Kingston
  • NME - died age 74 (c. 1938), born Kingston
  • Hollywood Reporter - died 74, born Trench Town
  • Billboard - notes discrepancy, RS indicates death at 74, while referring to the discrepant Trojan Records bio DOB and a statement from Ken Boothe that he believed Charmers was not yet 70, though he had no accurate age.
  • Jamaica Gleaner - no apparent indication of age
  • Jamaica Observer - d. age 74

1938 seems most reliable, with 1946 apparently originating the from the record company bio. Dl2000 (talk) 14:31, 5 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

  • Dave Thompson's Reggae & Caribbean Music books also states 1938. I was hoping David Katz would write an obit. as these are usually good on details like this. Maybe it will appear tomorrow. --Michig (talk) 15:43, 5 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
