In Regards to the timeline regarding "the little league". The first all African American team to make it to the World Series was in 1973, the Belmont Heights Little League Team of Tampa, Fl Coached by Cleo Stinyard Sr. I have the article and you can also research it. It is an important piece of little league history. Is it possible to have this added once you confirm? Thanks so much for your time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jacklat (talkcontribs) 18:09, 10 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Little League Baseball - Logo.jpg

edit

Image:Little League Baseball - Logo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Rules confidential?

edit

I think the paragraph regarding the rules being confidential is somewhat misleading and not fully supported by the citation. Frankly I'm not certain this even warrants being mentioned. According to the article each team is provided two copies of the rules. It does strike me as exceedingly odd that umpires aren't automatically provided copies (though I'm sure they would fall under "authorized" if they requested them) but surely they are provided training. Certainly the playing rules are essentially the same as the "Official Baseball Rules" with very minor differences reflecting the smaller scale (distance between bases etc). One doesn't need a copy of the official Little League rules to determine if a ball that strikes third base is foul or fair.

If I find some time I may rewrite this to indicate the rules are essentially the same and point out the main areas where they differ, while possibly noting that the actual rules are available on a need-to-know basis.

The guy in the article comes across as a major whiner. He said he wanted the rules but when they offered to sell him a copy he refused because it's "bigger" than him. Sounds like he thinks he's pretty big as it is. But he managed to find someone in the media to listen to his whining. Gr8white (talk) 23:43, 11 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

I've been a coach and an umpire in Little League and my wife is on the board of our local Little League. I don't think the rules are confidential I think the rule book is copyright. In otherwords, its not that Little League doesn't want anyone to know they rules, its that they want to sell the rule book (which umpires must purchase) and not have that information copied to the web, --99.0.1.120 (talk) 17:45, 11 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

bases

edit

the article says the bases are not standard size. that hasn't been my experience, but we should note the use of the double (white/orange) first base. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.101.126.151 (talk) 06:26, 22 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

The Little League Pledge

edit

Where should the The Little League Pledge be mentioned here. And can it be copied here word for word. There is no copyright notice on the document. But neither is there a clear waver either (everything is automatically copyrighted these days, correct?)--Zerothis (talk) 01:32, 23 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

The text describing the various divisions seems to have been copied directly from the Little League web site and as such constitutes a copyright violation.Gr8white (talk) 16:10, 18 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Divisions

edit

I think we need an organization that makes the distinction between tournament divisions and regular season divisions. 9/10 is a tournament division, not a regular season division. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 107.210.52.135 (talk) 04:19, 7 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
