Talk:List of video games that support cross-platform play

Fortnite

edit

I think Fortnite has cross-platform play between PC and console, and PC and mac so the lack of the Win10 label on the table is surprising unless someone has better information — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A01:C22:D477:3D00:7CFC:6284:EFBF:CEE9 (talk) 19:06, 1 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

Cross platform with Sony

edit

This list has great limitations when describing what platforms are interoperable with each others. There are games that allows cross platform between Xbox One, Switch and PC and separately between PS4 and PSV, but the format of the list doesn't allow to show this. Also there's a lot of videogames that allows cross platform play between Windows, Mac OS and other OS, but this list seems to focus only on console games.-79.54.7.123 (talk) 19:55, 16 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Disagree. The list does a decent enough job of showing the different cross-play variations (see Deformers, Dreii and Mantis Burn Racing among others). They are separated in such a way as to show which platforms link together and which do not. What is it about the present implementation that you consider inadequate? I take your point about missing platforms, specifically Android and iOS, but they were excluded purposely due to the sheer volume of eligible titles; there being hundreds of them. — Niche-gamer 23:10, 16 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thoughts on Dealing with Cross Platform between PC store and Mobile Platforms

edit

So a general rule of thumb I tend to go by is that if the game is Cross Platform between PC OS or Store Platforms I don't Include them on the list. Prime example is Rise of Nations Extended Edition. Technically it is cross play Between the Steam Version and The Windows Store (Xbox Live) Version. I feel like that is unneeded. But if it had a console or mobile version that also cross play I say add it. The same goes for Mobile. There are a lot of games on those store that have iOS and android cross play. But for example If there is a pc version or console version of a mobile game we should add it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Linkman806 (talkcontribs) 09:10, 8 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Note: Paragon Closing in April

edit

I don't know if it's early to discontinue this one, but it has only a couple months left. I likely won't remember to come back and edit, so hopefully this will remind me, or someone, to do it. [1]TalkPageWarrior (talk) 22:01, 16 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Move Way of Redemption to Discontinued

edit

Hi, I moved Way of Redemption because of announcements from Pixel Cream (the studio that made or distributed it) that it was support and online feature were being ended - I didn't know where to put comments to that effect so I tried to title the source to give enough information, and I made the assumption that taking down online features effectively ends xplay until third party servers exist. Below are the three versions of their announcement I could find.[1][2][3] They look legitimate to me, as far as I can tell, especially the steam one. I don't know of confirmations after 2/20/2018 that is indeed down. I didn't really know the proper editing technique, sorry!TalkPageWarrior (talk) 17:10, 19 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Okay that seems pretty clear. Thanks. — Niche-gamer 20:09, 19 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

RPG Maker MV Xbox and Switch can Share games between the two.

edit

Would you Consider that Cross Play? I would even though you are technically not playing with other people you can play with each others creation? any objections? Here is a link for the confirmation. https://nintendoeverything.com/switch-and-xbox-one-versions-of-rpg-maker-mv-will-be-compatible/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Linkman806 (talkcontribs) 05:56, 25 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Need a good soul to add all xbox one backward compatible games =

edit

They should be included in the list. All xbox one backcompat titles (the ones that feature online play, of course) allow crossplay between xbox 360 and xbox one. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Trevizanos (talkcontribs) 01:37, 24 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Personally I don't think its really needed. More so that all backwards compatible are all implied to be cross platform since it just emulates an Xbox 360. LINKMAN 23:24, 24 July 2018 (UTC)

Release Date should be included in chart

edit

Times change quickly in the video game industry so we should at least acknowledge when games were released. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:681:5380:1AB0:642E:728E:33A:E03 (talk) 01:09, 8 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

9th Generation consoles

edit

Should we add 9th Generation consoles. Doremon764 (talk) 06:25, 15 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

After Battlefront 2042 releases there is exclusive cross-play between 9th Generation and PC, so it might be a good idea. [1] Dmcpeak2012 (talk) 13:29, 15 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Dauntless not on mobile devices at all?

edit

Dauntless is listed in the chart as having cross-play compatibility with IOS and Android. I cannot find the game on the google play store on an android phone or tablet. I do not have access to any IOS devices. The Dauntless article says IOS and Android releases are planned but does not currently list them under releases. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dauntless_(video_game)

Can anyone confirm if Dauntless is available on IOS or proof of an available Android release (different app store or direct APK from dev?).

I think there something wrong with the Discontinued list

edit

Android and Ios apps are under PS3 and PS4. Doremon764 (talk) 22:44, 12 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Windows PC Section

edit

Should we think about changing W10 to MS referencing the Microsoft Store? This will both keep it consistent with other listed store fronts and with the recent release of Windows 11 make it more obvious what is being stated.Dmcpeak2012 (talk) 14:54, 21 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

backwards compat

edit

I dont think we should include backwards compat here. ie, a game that was ps4/vita cross play that you then include ps5 even though its not actually on ps5 and only playable via backwards compat (the digimon games for example, but there's other games on here doing it too) that could end up endless if ps6 gets backwards compat too etcMuur (talk) 23:57, 21 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

I agree with you on this and I'm looking at cleaning some of this up. More specifically games that are only listed as PS4-PS5 or XB One-XBX/S since those are going to be a problem moving foreword. Dmcpeak2012 (talk) 17:32, 20 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Improve Accuracy

edit

Can we try to improve accuracy by only marking systems that the games were released on that support cross-play. Updated citations would be a benefit too. Dmcpeak2012 (talk) 00:42, 9 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
