Deceased cast members edit

Do we need this section? It seems so trivial, if someone wants to know if an actor is dead, they can go to the actor's page and look. Humans don't live forever so, realistically, every single person who has ever been on this show is going to be a "deceased cast member" at some point (meaning it and the "previous cast members" section would simply become mere carbon copies of each other). Do we really want the page to become that long and repetitive?Cebr1979 (talk) 21:08, 4 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

I think they should be there, however, if there is a consensus about it, I will let it go. Also, the notable cast member should be here. - Kiraroshi1976 (talk) 21:52, 4 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
You're right about the notable guest appearances so I moved them. Thanks.Cebr1979 (talk) 21:59, 4 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
Now that I've done that, I've noticed something that sort of acknowledges my point about the deceased cast members section being too repetitive and unnecessary: someone like Elizabeth Taylor is now mentioned in three different charts all on the same page! It's just so redundant, IMO.Cebr1979 (talk) 22:06, 4 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
I think she be listed only twice. She must be in former as well. - Kiraroshi1976 (talk) 22:08, 4 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
Ah, I stand corrected! She is not listed in the "previous" section (although, she probably should be, which returns me to my original point of: listing deceased cast members in their own chart just seems so trivial). Will leave for others to chime in now.Cebr1979 (talk) 22:13, 4 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Deceased cast members: revisited edit

Hello. I'm starting a discussion to remove the "deceased cast members" section on this article and articles alike. Firstly, the section is trivia; a cast member being dead is not related to them appearing on this series. Even if they died while appearing on the series, that should be mentioned on their character/actor article, not here. Secondly, the section is unsourced. We have a responsibility to provide sources for contentious information, and date of death is certainly contentious. That being said, regardless of if an editor sourced every single death, it would still be trivia... Thirdly, linking actors numerous times is overlink. In conclusion, every cast member will be dead one day. How is that related to this article? – DarkGlow • 19:12, 7 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

All of the above. It's such a ridiculous, trivial section. Why was it included in the first place? Convenience? I'm sure it doesn't take up that much time and energy to click through to an actor's article to find out whether they are dead or alive. - JuneGloom07 Talk 00:32, 9 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
For me, the main issue is that sometimes, cast members get added to it but are not on the main cast list, so information gets lost. I have spent the past year trying to get all the Previous cast lists of USA soaps completed so that they're not incomplete lists. Before/if they are deleted, I will go through the Deceased cast list and add them to the main list (I have already done that for other soaps) so that no one is missing :) I am personally against this list too, but I do not want to upset anyone by removing it again (I removed it from several pages months ago). I agree with @DarkGlow and JuneGloom07: the removal of these sections from American-related soap opera cast members lists has been on-going, and continually disputed by one singular member. livelikemusic (TALK!) 18:41, 13 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

And me ? I had the same opinion... DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 00:40, 14 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

I'm not speaking in terms of this discussion; I was speaking in strict terms of actions across the pages when multiple editors have removed the sections. livelikemusic (TALK!) 01:08, 14 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
I'm considering this discussion as the general hub for every deceased cast member list removal, since it has the most activity. Four editors have expressed their desire for the lists to be removed, with only one editor, DrKilleMoff, opposing – although they have not bothered to comment on these discussions that they wanted in the first place. Considering that's a 4-0 consensus, I'll be removing the sections. – DarkGlow • 08:36, 26 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
