Fair use rationale for Image:EH icon.png edit
Image:EH icon.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Incorrect Towns edit
I just wanted to point out that not all of the places highlighted as 'towns' are in fact towns. e.g. Corfe Mullen is a village, and Colehill is a parish, almost a suburb of Wimborne and therefore not a town either. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.153.142.9 (talk) 14:36, 22 July 2011 (UTC)
Places of interest edit
I propose this section is deleted as there is an almost identical list at Places of interest in Dorset that could be further developed. It looks "tacked on" here. It certainly seems pointless to have the list in 2 places. --Bermicourt (talk) 21:46, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
- I was unaware of the existence of Places of interest in Dorset, and agree that there is too much overlap. I think deleting here and developing there seems sensible, as does also making sure readers are aware of both articles. I also suggest renaming this article to List of settlements in Dorset, which would distinguish and describe its contents better (and fit in with its description on the portal). The Places of interest article could then do with some structuring (maps? division into areas?), so that it isn't just a long list. PaleCloudedWhite (talk) 00:12, 4 May 2013 (UTC)
- Sounds good. I'll make a start. Oooppps, I've just noticed that this is one of a series of articles entitled "List of places in county" all under List of places in England, so we ought to reach consensus there before changing this name.
