Alphabetical order edit

I think the names should be organised in alphabetical order as currently everything's all over the place and very inconvenient if you're looking for a particular name. Littleghostboo[ talk ] 09:36, 8 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Go for it!

Sourcing edit

I tried to improve sourcing as best I could. I don't think I used IMDB at all or at least I tried not to. Mostly I tried to use online archives of newspapers, history sites, and scholarly articles. Hope it's all on the up and up.--T. Anthony 11:30, 7 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Kevin Costa edit

There is no entry for this actor, nor does the entry for R2-D2 indicate that he ever played that role. Perhaps this entry should be removed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Parmadil (talkcontribs) 13:03, 27 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

It should be Kenny Baker. I'm thinking someone switched it to himself or a friend of his, either way I fixed it.--T. Anthony 10:25, 6 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
On an unrelated matter I guess Michel Petrucciani fits, as OIs of type III and IV are dwarfish in stature, but that means I also have dwarfism. I relate more to dwarfism than being disabled, but normally I don't really think of myself as either. I have no idea what his position was on that or if he even had one.--T. Dylan Postl edit

I edited the list to include proffesional wrestler Dylan Postl, known as Hornswoggle. Yet it has been removed...why?

It's back now. In essence though you didn't put his name where it should go alphabetically and failed to source it. However seeing his article I'm satisfied he fits and have moved it to the appropriate part. I have some doubts people like Michel Petrucciani fits, but I guess dwarfism is a vague term that just stands for "anyone who is under 147 cm" and my condition is listed in the dwarfism article. So I guess I'm a dwarf as well. I have mixed feelings on that. It's sort of neat to be part of a group people have heard of, but at the same time I've never thought of myself as a dwarf.--T. Gary Coleman edit

Should be removed as he did not grow due to his kidney problems, not dwarfism. Trista (User Triste Tierra - cannot log in at work) 24.176.191.234 (talk) 20:33, 23 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

The article dwarfism defines the condition as "short stature resulting from an abnormal medical condition", and notes that are some 200 potential causes. So it would appear that he does fall within the criteria for the list.--Arxiloxos (talk) 21:17, 23 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

VanVelzen edit

Any thoughts on the singer VanVelzen? SilverhandTalk 08:55, 6 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

  • What do the reliable sources say? IMDb (not generally a reliable source for biographical details) says he's 4'11" (1.5m)[1], which puts him above the usual criterion for adult dwarfism. I didn't find anything else. According to Google he has a song called "One Angry Dwarf" but that's not going to meet Wikipedia's standards for edits relating to biographical information about living persons. --Arxiloxos (talk) 17:01, 6 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

List title edit

Recognizing the editor's good intent in the recent changes of the title here to "List of notable people with dwarfism", it remains the case that Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Lists has long provided, "words like complete and notable are normally excluded from list titles. Instead, the lead makes clear whether the list is complete or whether it is limited to widely-known or notable members (i.e., those that merit articles)." Wikipedia:Stand-alone lists#Titles echoes this, stating "Best practice is usually to avoid words like notable, famous, noted, prominent, etc. in the title of a list article." An explanation was given in the edit summary for this[2], but once the proposed change had been reverted,[3] I don't think it should have been implemented a second time[4] without prior discussion and consensus. At the moment, my own view is that for better or worse, we have a widespread convention against using the word "notable" in the titles of lists like this one, and I haven't seen a strong reason to overturn the custom here. But this can be discussed.--Arxiloxos (talk) 21:15, 17 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Done I restored the original title as I have no strong opinion if this is the accepted norm. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 21:24, 17 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Verne Troyer edit

I'm very very confused, seeing as he is one of the most famous dwarfs of all and not only is he not on the list but no one has even mentioned him on this talk page yet. Is there some sort of specific reason I'm not getting for his omission as it's impossible that no one has thought of him yet? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 5.80.247.213 (talk) 16:58, 17 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

We can place him on this list but I don't want his name listed twice as it is redundant. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 13:41, 23 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Matthew Knox edit

Are there any sources for him or is he probably a hoax? I don't find his name in the GWR 1995 (the source given in the article). --Lord vom Ork (talk) 12:47, 19 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

I went ahead and removed it, thanks for that! People try a lot to include names with references that look legit until someone checks them which I haven't had a chance to do yet for all of the references on this page. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 13:29, 19 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

What kind of condition did he have? He just seems short. --94.134.89.85 (talk) 23:26, 3 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Scotland edit

If you treat Scotland as a sovereign state, which it is not, why do you have entries in that same table that say "United Kingdom"? Either it's all "United Kingdom" or their respective countries but no a mix of both. --2001:16B8:31D1:D700:D007:A685:8178:CDA0 (talk) 23:30, 3 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Narcissa Rickman (4 foot 0 inches supercentenarian, possible oldest dwarf ever?) edit

So I just found out that Narcissa Rickman (1855-1968), 113 years old, was 4 feet and 0 inches, meaning she possibly would be the oldest "dwarf" ever. However I am not sure if 4 feet 0 inches is a "dwarf". — Preceding unsigned comment added by NanoLock66 (talkcontribs) 00:48, 1 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
