Oni town, and Oni district
editI have changed Oni which links to the town of Oni, to Oni, which links to the district of Oni. --DThomsen8 (talk) 00:22, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
How many districts are in Georgia?
editApparently, WP does not have yet a definitive answer to this question.
In 8 regions + the republic of Adjara + the capital Tbilisi, I counted 56 districts + 5 cities (Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi, Poti, and Rustavi) = 61. This bit is identical in this article, and in this source. I am assuming this is correct.
In the remaining 1 region (Shida Kartli) + 1 republic (Abkhazia), I identified 1 city (Tskhinvali) + 5 districts, respectively 6 districts = 11 districts. But I am not sure if this is correct. If this were correct, then the total number is 73 = 67 districts + 6 cities, as is now in the first list of the article (I have checked the names of the districts; they match now).
However here is where I do not understand:
Are the city of Sukhumi, the district of Tkvarcheli, and the community of Zemo Abkhazia separate additional city/districts from Georgia point of view? (the 7th city, the 68th district, and the 69th district of Georgia)
This would give the grand total of 76=69+7. Intermediate possibilities also exist? Anyone could explain this and point in the right direct, please? Dc76\talk 00:45, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
- Here is the answer and actual population statistics. Bogomolov.PL (talk) 07:31, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
- But the map is out of date. Bogomolov.PL (talk) 07:45, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you very much. I used exactly this Excel file for my edits so far. But there are a few things I do not understand about it. They are about Shida Kartli and Abkhazia. By the way, except this, the map you give is identical to the Excel file.
- The Excel file contains Eredvi, Tighvi, and Kurta. I know little about geography of Georgia, but aren't these just small groups of villages that Georgia used to control in South Ossetia? Does Georgia consider them separate municipalities/districts? Are you sure they are not considered parts of other districts?
- The Excell file contains the city of Sukhumi, the district of Tkvarcheli, and the community of Zemo Abkhazia. I just need a confirmation (yes/no) that these 3 are considered by Georgia as separate districts. Dc76\talk 23:18, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
