AMFT Awards edit

AMFT Awards appear to be a fan made site on amft-awards.jimdosite.com. Anyone can create a site on jimdo.com. While the site might appear to be professional at first glance, there is no real information about the awards organisation. The site appears to have been registered with Jimdo GmbH in Hamburg, but there is no information about what country or city the awards organisation is based. There is no information about the awards system and how the nominees and winners are selected and what time of the year the awards are presented. There is no phone number or physical address or name or other information about the AMFT president or any members or the organisation.

The evidence for the AMFT Award for Melodrama is based on a page of past winners which can also be found archived here. If we examine that page, we find that in the years 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2019, both Song of the year and Record of the year were won by Billie Eilish for "Bad Guy". It seems very unlikely that the same song won in all four years, considering that "Bad Guy" was not released until 2019 and Billie Eilish would have been about eight years old for most of 2010, which is the first year listed where the song won an AMFT award.

We have to assume that the entire page and almost certainly the entire site is fake. For this reason, we should remove the 2017 AMFT Award for Melodrama from the awards page. Xagent86 (Talk | contribs) 04:35, 15 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

One clarification, my previous comments about the 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2019 wins for Billie Eilish and "Bad Guy" can be seen in the archived version of the page found here.
In a newer version of the page from 2023, the Song of the Year and Record of the Year winners have been removed from the 2010 awards (and others) and there has been a new 2010 winner added for Album of the Year, which now shows My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, by Kanye West. Best Rock Solo Performance for 2010 is shown as being awarded to "This Land" by Gary Clark Jr which was a song released in 2019.
Some additional years claiming to be a list of past winners from 2005 to 2009 have been added. For 2005, Kanye West is shown as the Album of the Year winner again, for My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, a 2010 album. Lizzo is shown as the 2005 winner of Best Contemporary R&B Album, for Cuz I Love You, a 2019 album. Fans are free to make fake awards sites of course, even if they are a bit confused about which songs and albums were released in which year. Perhaps we should be relieved that they did not make the site too believable. Xagent86 (Talk | contribs) 10:31, 15 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
