Talk:List of Xbox 360 games (A–L)
Needs major restructuring
editThis list needs some major filling in dates, developers/publishers and genres. It seems every other list is either being dormant for quite some time or not tampered with at all. There anything that can be done or worked on? Zacharyalejandro (talk) 05:27, 19 January 2020 (UTC)
Proposal to improve table spacing
editI propose adopting a shorter date table sorting template for release dates {{dts|2020|Jan|23}}
similar to List of PlayStation 4 games and List of Xbox One games. MOS:DATEFORMAT says abbreviated dts is a perfectly viable format "where brevity is helpful" (e.g. refs, tables, infoboxes) providing the style remains consistent throughout. A shorter date format creates more space for the first four columns and improves table readability for visitors with small or standard monitors that cannot output at high resolutions. Here's what it looks like in practice: List of Xbox 360 games (A–L) (M–Z).

Proposal for new format
editFor me, this list looks rather awkward and cluttered, so I tried my hand at reformatting the list on my sandbox. I removed the genre column (because let's be honest, games rarely fit into just one genre and genre wars among editors are always going to be a shitshow), condensed the release dates to just the initial year of release, and removed all additional descriptors outside of Xbox Live Arcade Games (no more backwards compatibility, Kinect required, etc).
Obviously the list on my sandbox is nowhere near complete, but I just created it to showcase what the page might look like. Of course there are always going to be specific problems (is it 007: Quantum of Solace or just Quantum of Solace, is AC/DC Live: Rock Band Track Pack deserving of a spot, should games like 3D Ultra Minigolf Adventures 2 be linked even if they don't have a Wikipedia page) but those can always be sorted out later. I'd love to get your thoughts. Famous Hobo (talk) 01:04, 22 May 2024 (UTC)
- I 100% support your version. Sergecross73 msg me 01:14, 22 May 2024 (UTC)
- I think the regions released in should be retained in some way. TarkusABtalk/contrib 03:23, 22 May 2024 (UTC)
- @TarkusAB: I put the region dates back in, at least for the first few. I think the problem with including regions is that it's becomes difficult to verify their release dates, and even if we could, the number of references would balloon out of control. The main reference I'm using (AllGame) only confirms there release year, and doesn't even confirm the developer and publisher. I figured it would be easier just to consolidate the release dates into one year. If the reader wants to know if the game came out in their region, then they can look at the individual article for the game. Famous Hobo (talk) 19:31, 22 May 2024 (UTC)
- I was thinking just an indicator like JP [X], EU [O] and so on, without the regional release dates. Is there an easy way to verify that vs. individual sources per game? I also suggest forgoing the XBLA indicator as that doesn't mean anything beyond how the game was marketed. TarkusABtalk/contrib 19:46, 22 May 2024 (UTC)
- Unfortunately I haven't found any database that shows more than just the name of the game and the release year. I'm not sure if older systems have the same problem, but with newer systems it seems like a lot of databases just take for granted that a game got released in North America, Europe, and Japan (Australia as well I guess, although I always assumed they were part of the PAL region with Europe). If I wanted to find the individual references to confirm release dates for each region and therefore confirm region releases to begin with I could definitely do that, but this list includes around 1000 games, which means potentially 1000 references, and that's not happening.

- As for the Arcade games, I personally think it should stay as is. Arcade games never received a physical release, and could only be purchased through the Xbox Live Arcade service (at least as far as I remember, there may have been some instances where that didn't happen). If it was something like Platinum Hits I would agree with you, that distinction isn't notable enough, but the only way to access Arcade games was to purchase them through the Arcade store. I think that's notable. Famous Hobo (talk) 20:10, 22 May 2024 (UTC)
- OK, makes sense on regions and I support omission.
- And fine on XBLA. TarkusABtalk/contrib 23:40, 23 May 2024 (UTC)

- If this makes the list short enough to stop being split across two pages, all the better. Splitting into two pages breaks sorting functionality. Axem Titanium (talk) 23:45, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
