The criteria of this list needs to be changed to include all corruption convictions.

The title implies that this is a list of all federal officials convicted of corruption, but the criteria of this list oddly decides to not include federal officials convicted of a myriad of corruption crimes such as electoral fraud & money laundering.

You're absolutely right. The reason of course, is to make finding such data difficult and misleading.

Updates

The original article was heavily slanted and only two Republicans were listed. I have updated the list, removed loaded and POV comments. Johnsagent (talk) 07:16, 14 March 2014 (UTC)

The current article has some serious inaccuracies: Spiro Agnew was convicted of Tax Evasion, and needs to be removed from the List. From http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/9318/Spiro-T-Agnew and other sources.

Halsted Ritter was convicted in 1936 and not 1965 "On April 6, 1936, the U.S. Senate began its trial. Eleven days after the trial began, the Senate voted to acquit him of all but the last article (bringing the judiciary into disrepute), which he was convicted of 56-28, exactly the two-thirds necessary for conviction under the Constitution, and Ritter was removed from office on April 17, 1936. Martin B. Mckneally was convicted of not paying his taxes and needs to be removed from the list. Walter E. Brehm was removed as the source clearly indicates his conviction was for taking an illegal campaign contribution, which is specific excluded "violations of campaign finance regulations, tax evasion and money laundering are not included in this list". The source clearly states "five-term member of Congress, was convicted last night of receiving $1,000 in unlawful political contributions." The article goes on to say "Political Gifts Brehm was convicted of breaking a law that forbids congressmen to accept political gifts from persons! on the federal payroll."
