Talk:List of Ultimate Muscle characters

Character Pages

edit

I'm about to start putting all information that's on this list onto the pages of the individual Chojin if that character has a page already and using the main|charactername redirects. I AM NOT BLANKING THESE, merely moving most information to the appropriate individual page.

Formatting

edit

Should this be formatted the same as the List of characters from Kinnikuman? There's also some information that could be integrated to the other Kinnikuman character pages, such as the American voice actors for the Legend characters who don't have their own page.

Legends section

edit

I'm about to start making sure that the information on the Legends are on their own page (if applicable) and referring them to

to remove redundant information. If there's info that I am not sure of how to integrate, I'll leave the information on the Legend alone.

Merging

edit

Why would individual character pages (which are quite useful for showing the characters) be merged into a generic list? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.153.114.160 (talk) 23:38, 22 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Because, by Wikipedia's standards, they are not notable--they have no out-of-universe information and are merely pages with character information. If they had concept/creation and reception added, then they wouldn't need to be merged. WhiteArcticWolf (talk) 22:03, 23 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Merge character pages

edit

I'm suggesting a merge for the character pages (Jade (Kinnikuman), Mantaro Muscle, Terry "The Grand" Kenyon, Wally Tusket, Dik-Dik Van-Dik, Dialbolic, Pumpinator, Tyrannoclaw, Hanzou (Kinnikuman), Mars (Kinnikuman), Hydrazoa (Kinnikuman), Roxanne (Ultimate Muscle), Keiko and Tamaki, Bone Cold, Warsman, Ricardo (Kinnikuman), Barrierfreeman, Ashuraman and Chaos (Kinnikuman)) ; they are not notable and contain little to no out-of-universe information. This isn't my series (rather, I am just from the Anime/Manga Wikiproject intent on cleaning articles), so I don't know the importance of the characters in the series. However, Mantaro Muscle is the protagonist so I could see leaving that one, but only if any good information can be added. The same goes for the rest of the pages. The way they are now, though, means none would be able to make GA, let alone B-class or C-class. WhiteArcticWolf (talk) 01:30, 24 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I concur. Especially if it's a selective merge. I don't think any of them could survive a proposal to delete, not in their current states, and that's a sure sign that the information is better handled in the list. (Wait for the one-week comment period to finish, though, before starting.) —Quasirandom (talk) 20:06, 26 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thank you! It's going to be a daunting task, but it's worth it. I figure that I really only need to move the 'About' section for each character to the list. The rest of the page seems rather useless. I'll also wait for the one week period; I just wanted to make sure I got at least one person to agree with me. Judging from the inactivity, I may have wound up with no one. WhiteArcticWolf (talk) 20:12, 26 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
If you merge and redirect the articles, please tag the redirects with {{CharR to list entry|Ultimate Muscle}} and {{R from merge}}. It will save me a lot of work. G.A.S 21:19, 26 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I agree with the merge. However, how about we create a seeprate list for the original Kinnikuman Characters as well, and call the proposed list "Kinnikuman Nisei," per its original Japanese name. You don't have to agree with me, just a suggestion. ZeroGiga (talk) 23:06, 30 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
I'm not really familiar with the series, so I'm a little confused...But do you mean list the characters by their Japanese name on a separate list? I think that goes against Wikipedia policy; we are supposed to go by their official English names. Sorry if I didn't intreprete that right, though! WhiteArcticWolf (talk) 01:02, 31 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
No one has opposed so I will now start. WhiteArcticWolf (talk) 17:37, 1 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Actually, two of the characters you're trying to merge, Warsman and Ashuraman, debuted in the first series. I don't suggest merging them, instead, merge them, Kinnikuman, and the other first series characters into a list of the first generation choujin, because they both had much more impact in the first series than Ultimate Muscle. Other than that, everything looks down pat. ZeroGiga (talk) 00:19, 3 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Oh, I get it! I'll deffinately do that. It's only two pages, so I think I'll just be bold and merge them. Maybe I'll tackle that list next...Thanks! WhiteArcticWolf (talk) 02:16, 3 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Okay, I know it is a little late to voice my objections now, but I feel that this may no be such a great idea. I initially had little-to-no problems with the idea, but after seeing how the pages were being "merged," I must voice my concerns. For one, I do understand that they are all labeled "low importance" and that none have any relevant information pertaining to anything other than their own anime/manga universe. However, the information they do provide is (in most cases) highly important to that fictional universe. Most of this information is not being retained in this "merger," so that is why I am objecting. I understand that my objection can be completely disregarded, but I would like for as much information to be retained as possible. Seeing as how many pages have already been merged and much of the information already lost I do have some suggestions. I know there used to be (and may still be) a list of special/signature techniques for the Kinnikuman and Ultimate Muscle series, so some information could go into that, since it is quite relevant to the series as well as fight records (at least important ones) so that people who do want to know more about the characters still have a place to learn it. I thought much of this would still be around after merging the pages into the list of characters, but it doesn't seem so (unless that page is still being added to). Anyway, I mostly use Wikipedia to learn more about anime and manga (mostly storylines and characters), so seeing some of the pages that I got vast amounts of information from disappearing seems contradictory to Wikipedia's goal. I just don't want others who wish to learn more about Ultimate Muscle to find that there is no web site with the information they seek. Kinnikufan (talk) 05:57, 6 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
The special abilities/attacks were usually already present in the list, so I didn't spend much time looking at them. However, lists like this just simply can't have fight records (important ones should be explained in the summary) and their was just too much information. Check List of Naruto characters--a featured list. Wikipedia is not for giving information on everything about the character or manga/anime. It is for giving a basic outline and real-world information such as concept, creation, reception, merchandise, etc.WhiteArcticWolf (talk) 03:31, 7 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Alright! I have completed all the merges; the ones leftover link to articles from the original Kinnikuman. After tackling such a large amount of merges, I think I'll take a break from it and work on smaller merges instead of the Kinnikuman character list. WhiteArcticWolf (talk) 01:14, 11 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

This is a tragedy. Even the pictures of the characters, one of the most strikingly creative elements of the show, is removed by this. This is an absolute crime against an excellent anime. -TheOrgg —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.79.146.128 (talk) 18:03, 19 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
