Split & more

edit

First off, thank you for splitting the list off from the main article. It was getting a bit long for inclusion in the primary article. Call it not wanting to tempt fate too much but i am considering adding series 4 to the list. I long suspected it would be so and well if you check the Citytv schedule you will find a new episode of L&O|UK is set to air the week after the series 3 finale in Canada, though it is not marked as new in the schedule. Right now i can only find the title, "Denial", and the air date, 4 November 2010. (citytv.com/calgary or archive url) If anyone knows where to find more information on series 4 (aka the second half of season 2) at this time please do. delirious & lost~hugs~ 22:49, 25 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

This will be clarified in a few days but Citytv Calgary & Edmonton are scheduled to show "Denial" while Citytv Toronto, Winnipeg, & Vancouver are scheduled to show "ID" which has the summary of episode 8 "Samaritan" according to Citytv's website. Neither "Denial" nor "ID" are titles of already shown episodes. I get the Calgary and Toronto stations so i am going to record both just in case they are different and both new episodes. TVGuide.ca and most Citytv stations indicate "Duty Of Care" to be the episode that will be shown on 11 November. The Citytv website with regards to this show has been rather error-filled in the past. This is why i didn't add in a table for series 4. Does anyone know where to find info on these episodes outside of tv listings? delirious & lost~hugs~ 08:47, 31 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Most of the summaries on this page violate copyright by just reproducing the official copy of episode summaries. They need to be removed completely and replaced with an original version of a summary. I will be removing sumaries that violate copyright, which unfortunately is going to leave a lot of blanks to fill. Someone who watches the show will have to fill those holes in, but not with summaries found on other webpages online. 142 and 99 (talk) 16:03, 27 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

References needed to back that Law & Order UK uses original Law & Order episodes as ideas etc.

edit

I have removed a whole section that referes to the "Original Law & Order" episode. Why? There is no reliable reference to back these episodes up (in other words that is basic Original Research). Please find a reliable source that explains the connection between L&O: UK and the original L&O. If there are any other issues, please feel free to discuss on my talk page. I left the same on your talk page but since you started this here it really ought to be here.
The references you want are all {{Cite episode}} to each respective episode, just as are writer and director. Since that is redundant to cite an episode to itself when writing about itself it is not done. If the "based on" is original research then so are air dates, writers, directors, production codes, titles, the summaries, and hell even the existence of the episodes. Sound a bit silly? It does. To avoid copyright infringement the episode summaries by design are required to be original research. What you ask for would mean citing every writer, every director, every air date, every production code, and every everything else for every episode to the episodes themselves in the episode lists of every show. That would be a gross miss-use of {{Cite episode}} and so it is not done. Your edit undone because episode credits, which include the "based on" for L&O UK, are self-referential. delirious & lost~hugs~ 00:02, 19 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
It would be excellent for someone to state in the L&O UK article that the credits show that the certain episode is based from an episode of the Original series. Other than that, thank you for proving me wrong' ;) . If there is anything else that may not reguard this resolved issue, feel free to discuss on my talk page. Thank You. -- MelbourneStar☆ (talk to me) 00:18, 19 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
There is or at least was a bit about how the now former head writer of the show picked through the 400+ scripts of the New York show to find ones he wanted to adapt to the British legal system. If people would stop editing it then i would be more certain to say it is still there. ;) Not many shows are such blatant reworkings of produced material so it is a bit uncommon for a tv show to have a writer, based on, and director but LAO UK is and does. You are not the first person to wonder and likely will not be the last.
For example, the on screen credits for the 8th episode of season 2 in Canada / 3rd episode of series 4 in the UK are in part as follows.
'ID'
Teleplay by EMILIA DI GIROLAMO
and then the next group of text
Based on "Promises to Keep" Written by
ROBERT NATHAN & JOSHUA STERN
Story by WILLIAM N. FORDES & DOUGLAS STARK
and then the next group of text
produced by
RICHARD STOKES
and then the next group of text
directed by
ANDY GODDARD
What that means is that Emilia di Girolamo wote the British adaptation "ID" from the script of "Promises to Keep" which was written by Robert Nathan & Joshua Stern which itself comes from a story by Willian N. Fordes & Douglas Stark. So far every episode of the London series is based on an episode of the New York series and thus has a really big writing credit. The WP article addresses this by crediting the author of the adaptation and noting it is based on this original work. delirious & lost~hugs~ 09:02, 24 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
Alright, excellent. Now that this has been established, can we make it that next time there is an editor (like me) that says there is no source to go with this articles "taken from the original L&O"....Just tell them to read the talk page. :) Glad that's sorted . -- MelbourneStar☆ (talk to me) 09:08, 24 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

My edits

edit

I am going to be updating the missing holes with my own versions of summaries, which i wrote ages ago but seemed to have since been removed. I will be doing this by reverting back to my old revision but will add any neccessary updates that have been made since and make details completely accurate. --BSBOfficialEditor 16:13, 15 August 2011

(1) Your claim that the summaries were written by you is false. They come from copyright protected websites, as has been pointed out before. (2) By reverting, as you have done several times, to a previous version of the page that you have saved you removed many legitimate edits to the page. If you have any original summaries to add, then just add them without eliminating a host of other edits. Also, be sure that the summaries you add really were written by you. The ones you have added so far were not. 142 and 99 (talk) 21:15, 15 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

So, MelbourneStar, could you explain what you think needs to be referenced? You did not specify in your edit summary nor did you tag anything specifically. As I mentioned, the viewing figures are referenced and with television shows the primary source (the episode itself) is the source for the plot summaries, names of the director and writer, and, as you learned in a previous discussion still on this page above, the original episodes that these ones are based on are sourced by the primary source. So just what is it you think needs citations? 142 and 99 (talk) 22:45, 22 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Reverted per this discussion. Sorry, I'm in the wrong. I am half asleep I swear. Thank You -- MelbourneStar☆ (talk to me) 05:46, 23 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
