Merge? edit

Shouldn't Dragon Ball chapters and Dragon Ball Z chapters be merged into one list? Technically the same series. – J U M P G U R U ask㋐㋜㋗ 05:13, 23 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

But the pages are very long to be together. They are the same series, and we divided them because the viz divided them.Tintor2 (talk) 13:42, 23 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Indeed. The two were originally one list, but it got split out due to size issues. This is the same thing that's been done with List of Naruto manga volumes and List of One Piece manga volumes, and reflects the manga version of our practice of splitting long anime episode lists into individual season sublists. —Dinoguy1000 18:38, 23 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Reason for volume/chapter renumbering edit

Since the splitting of the list of Dragon Ball chapters was done because that original list was quite large, and not because of the manga actually being released under two different names (since it was originally released under the title "Dragon Ball" throughout the entire series), it makes sense that the volume and chapter numbering continue from the first list, and not start over from chapter 001 and volume 01. Naruto was also split in such a matter, and didn't start the numbering process over in the second list. I hope I worded everything here correctly, as I'm in somewhat of a hurry. 4RM0 (talk) 21:00, 8 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Actually, Naruto (the manga) is not split in the same manner as Dragon Ball - they both use timeskips as turning points, but Viz never split Naruto as they did DB/DBZ. The issue therefore is whether to stick with Viz's numbering, or just keep everything continuous. ダイノガイ?!」(Dinoguy1000) 19:46, 9 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

I was just about to revert this but had second thoughts. See, Viz released "Dragon Ball" and "Dragon Ball Z" separately right? And Japan had it all in one collection. Which are we supposed to be following? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 22:23, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

I believe its the English volume numbering, since we're using the English volume names, with a footnote about it. Not sure though. The graphic novel template doesn't have an option for two numbering schemes like the English one. Could maybe do both 1/42 with the appropriate header or something as well. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 23:37, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Discuss away ^^; I'd very much like to know your reasoning behind keeping the Viz manga numbering (and I'm not trying to be rude or anything of that sort, I'm simply curious). 4RM0 (talk) 00:30, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

Because we generally go with the English names, etc, using the Viz numbering seems appropriate. However, I also think perhaps this shows why it might be good to have an "altvol" number parameter, since on episode lists we do use the original episode numbers first, and then use the alternate number field for dealing with differences in English numbers. Primarily, I think this should be discussed on one of the talk pages before a wholescale change is made on way or another. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 01:00, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
Alrighty, that makes sense. 4RM0 (talk) 00:24, 15 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

ISBN edit

Ok if you are wondering where those ISBN number got all harmonized into ISBN-13 format. I used the an ISBN online converter. --KrebMarkt 11:08, 16 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Manga and anime edit

For the name, should we use the manga name (ie. Kame-sen'nin) or the anime name (ie. Master Roshi)? I think we should use the manga name, due to this article being about the manga. If we do, here is a list of changes.

Kamesennin- Master Roshi

Kaio-sama- King Kai

Enma-daio- King Yemma

Djinn Boo- Majin Buu

Tenshinhan- Tien Shinhan

Chaozu- Chiaotzu

Karin- Korin

Gurd- Guldo

Reacoom- Recoome

Butta- Burter

Jheese- Jeice

Freeza- Frieza

Kiwi- Cui

Shenlong- Shenron

Lunch- Launch

Gyu Mao- Ox King

Kami Sama- Kami of the Earth

Bobbidi- Babidi

Oob- Uub VegetaSaiyan (talk) 21:50, 12 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

All wikipedia articles should use the same names for consistency. The current names used in the character list should be used to follow consensus, although the project states we should use the English name from the manga.Tintor2 (talk) 23:11, 12 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
Alright then. I am going to change it, alert me if you wish not to. VegetaSaiyan (talk) 00:31, 17 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
I meant that we have to be consistent with the other wikipedia articles. The characters list may need to be changed.Tintor2 (talk) 00:42, 17 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
This should be how it goes. Articles about the manga should use the manga name. Articles about the anime should use the anime name. Articles about both should use the anime name, but note that they also have a manga name. VegetaSaiyan 19:54, 28 October 2011 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by VegetaSaiyan (talkcontribs)
That actually goes against consistency. If we had to leave notes in every article, it would be undue weight.Tintor2 (talk) 00:10, 29 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
Then what should we do? Should we go by originality or popularity? VegetaSaiyan (talk) 15:24, 8 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
That's to be discussed in Talk:List of Dragon Ball characters.Tintor2 (talk) 15:50, 8 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
Before I go there, what do you think? VegetaSaiyan (talk) 13:19, 12 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
WP:Common name can also count. Check if it was discussed in archives.Tintor2 (talk) 13:37, 12 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
Using WP:Common name determines that we will go by anime name, for far more people know "Majin-Buu" than "Djinn-Boo". VegetaSaiyan (talk) 20:30, 14 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
