Regarding the author's religion

edit

@Jessicapierce:, thanks for helping out with this article!

Re: this edit, the NYT piece by opinion columnist Goldberg also stated her religion and liberal beliefs to highlight that she worked for conservative fundamentalist Christians even though she did not share their beliefs.

"Lisa Baron was a pro-choice, pro-gay rights, hard-partying Jew who nonetheless made a career advancing the fortunes of the Christian right."

Therefore I don't think stating her religion would be trivia in this context; it's meant to show she had a religion different than that of who she worked to advance the careers of.

(I used the Kirkus Review article as the actual cited source for her religion and political leanings: "After all, it describes Baron’s time as a single young socially moderate Jew working for Reed, the former director of the Christian Coalition, during a time when he was still politically powerful.")

Oh, you're quite right. I totally missed seeing the relevance there when I made that edit, probably because it wasn't explicitly stated. I'd have no objection to a mention of Baron's religion being made, but I do think the relevance should be pointed to, as in the several sentences you cite here.
