"Laminated bows were rare in most of the world before modern waterproof glues became widely available, almost unknown before about 1900CE" This is clearly false. cf. bows in tomb from Tutanchamun, Scythian and Achaementid bows. Any 'cupid' (e.g. Greco-Roman art) can only be laminated. Cf. e.g. C. Zutterman, The bow in the ancient Near East, a re-evaluation of archery from the late 2nd millennium to the end of the Achaemenid empire, IrAnt 38, 2003, 119‒65 The purpose of the gorytus is to prevent the bow from getting wet. Bishop & Coulston Roman military equipment, 1989 show the Roman bow laths which survived, although the wood did not. Azd0815 (talk) 11:13, 14 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your comment. In addition to failing to acknowledge the laminated bows of classical antiquity and the bronze age, this page contained falsified information to suggest that laminated bows existed in the Japanese Jomon period, which is false. They are about 1000 years old in Japan. - Hunan201p (talk) 02:28, 9 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
