Comment at creation edit

Note to closing administrator: This article asserts notability in that it claims to be the first Latina sorority in existence and doesn't meet CSD A7. I would suggest bringing this article to the AfD process. Alphachimp talk 23:50, 17 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Any AfD (deletion) discussion was resolved long ago. Jax MN (talk) 19:29, 22 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Chapter count? edit

They claim to have over 100 chapters nationwide, but they only have 81 undergrad chapters, 10 alumni associations, and 5 graduate chapters. What is up with the discrepancy? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Socrates SLB KA (talkcontribs) 23:15, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

If you take the time to look, Lambda Theta Alpha DOES have over 100 chapters. Check out the list on the article page or on the national website. (Unsigned response from ~2007)

Founding mothers, not fathers edit

Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. was founded by 17 Founding MOTHERS, not brothers of Lambda Theta Phi. In fact, both organizations were founded around the same time at Kean in 1975. Yes, there were some times between the founders of both organizations and certain constituencies still remain close to each other, but they are two separate organizations and Lambda Theta Alpha was built and stands on its own. (This has been fixed.)

Anti-Latino bias? edit

LTA is a respectable organization. Why people in general would rather post objectionable questions or commentary only generate negativity within the Latino community. The long smirked quote "Can't we all just get along" should be the anthem for all us Latino "Greeks" who are trying to get ahead in this world. Those who choose this type of outlet versus a face to face conversation only shows the immaturity, jealously and perhaps fear that people can be so organized and successful. Perhaps it is also due to the technology that is stimulating less physical discussion and more "cyber" relationships. At any rate I wish well to all organizations as we all hold a needed place for your younger generations to learn and grow. My best to all out there. Comment on founding edit

When were they founded? And I thought it to be Omega Psi Phi that helped LTA. ANSWER: Lambda Theta Alpha was founded in December of 1975 at Kean University, and Omega Psi Phi had no place in its chartering, incorporation, or development. (Unsigned comment and response from between 2008 to 2012)

Active chapters edit

As an unaffiliated editor, I've just completed an extensive revision of the chapter list table. The WLs are now correct, and fields for "location", "status" and "notes" have been added. Some stylistic adjustments were made to the chapter names, and two additional references were added.

Now, the question remains, if this national has created 150 or so chapters, a fact I do not doubt, based on the referenced sources, it is still dubious to claim that all but one of them remain active. No other national fraternity or sorority claims this significant a level of chapter retention. I would expect that several dozen, perhaps more, are closed, or that alumni from those schools retain a chapter in name only, but would like to see this addressed in the table. Note too, the national website doesn't differentiate whether a chapter is closed: see how they handled Omicron chapter at Upsala College. --It still has an email link but no chapter website. For their part, Baird's lists all but Omicron as active, but this appears to be due to a lack of information to the contrary. Jax MN (talk) 19:29, 22 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
