Why this article is named in german name? In Lithuania kurėnas is more popular. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.135.217.47 (talkcontribs) 2 January 2007 (UTC)

Such type boat was used until the end of World War II in East Prussia. In Vistula Lagoon all fishermen were german speaking, so own boat were called Kurenkahn, in Curonian Lagoon - in southern part fishermen were german speaking, in Curonian Spit lived curonians (from their name is named such boat) and own boat called - Korno valte, only in eastern shores of Curonian Lagoon lived lithuanian speaking population which called this ship Kurėnas - literary: "the ship of curonians", but themselves used Bradekahn / Bradinė valtis boats. --Vulpes vulpes 06:58, 1 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
