Copyright problem

I've reverted[1] the article to a version which is nearly four years old. On 12 October 2005 an unregistered editor copied and pasted the entire school history webpage. The edit is here; the internet archive of the page is here; the current version is here. Most everything after this edit is a derivative of this original copyright problem, and so I've had to revert to the last clean version. If someone wants to get the school to verifiably release this text under a free licence then it can be restored, otherwise it's going to need some original work. I wrote the current history section to replace the previous one, which was suffering copyright issues and had been deleted. Surely at the point flagged as needing an inline citation, the source is obvious from the text: the writings of Florence of Worcester and William of Malmesbury. I can't make any more specific citation than that, as I haven't actually read any Florence or Malmesbury – but I'm pretty sure that they must have written what I am told that they wrote, as no-one would make it up. Just an example to explain my thinking on citations, and why the article is short of them. BartBassist (talk) 23:30, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

I fully sympathise BartBassist, and quite understand the problems associated with this article, and appreciate your efforts to put things right. I've spent a lot of time on it too. However Wiki is extremely strict on what might well be true but can't be substantiated. Providing a reference that shows the date of publication of Florence and Malmesbury, the publisher, and the ISBN would do the trick - if you are absolutely sure the mentions are in the books. Some maintenance editors will even insist on page numbers, but I'm not personally going to be the one to delete anything that is not clear vandalism.--Kudpung (talk) 10:37, 29 July 2009 (UTC)

Florence of Worcester and William of Malmesbury wrote their works in the twelfth century – I don't think they had ISBN numbers and publication dates back then! But I will have a think and try to provide something. BartBassist (talk) 11:53, 29 July 2009 (UTC)

Quality

This is a complex article, due much to the large number of contributors, and the amount of vandalism and copyvio it has suffered. Although serious editors have contributed in good faith, Its academic status does not however exempt it from complying with the Wikipedia guidelines and MOS. School articles in particular should reflect the quality they claim for their establishment, especially when it concerns King's School , Worcester. --Kudpung (talk) 04:05, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

Choir house

Odd that Choir house was boarding until 1995, when I was in Choir House as a dayboy 1977-1982. For some years it was a mixed day/boarding house, but I have no chance of knowing when that stopped - I can't even remember if it reverted to all boarding for new intakes while I was there. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.220.138.220 (talk) 22:07, 15 November 2011 (UTC)

From memory, Castle House ceased being a senior boarding house in 1985 and became a boarding house for the lower and upper fourth (until about 1993?). School House was converted from a boarding house to a day house in either 1989 or 1990, leaving Choir House and Hostel House (boys 13-18) and College House (girls 13-18). I'm slightly hazy about exactly when these houses were wound up, but I'm pretty certain that boarding ended in the summer of 1999, by which time they remaining boarders had presumably been concentrated in one of the three houses (pretty certain it was either Hostel or Choir). Prep school or primary school

Prep schools are " fee-paying school[s] for children of the ages of 8-13, often preparing them for entry into British public schools or other secondary independent schools.". St Albans also offers before the age of seven, by definition a "pre-prep". --I'mJamesMcGill (talk) 21:47, 19 January 2016 (UTC)

These schools are primary schools, not prep schools, a primary school. It says on the first paragraph of its wikipedia page, is a school for 8-13 year olds. @I'mJamesMcGill:, I thought you might want to read this message.Theoosmond (talk) 22:19, 21 January 2016 (UTC)

@I'mJamesMcGill:Could I ask you, where does it say all primary schools must follow the national curriculum? The wikipedia page for primary schools certainly does not say anything about the national curriculum. And I stand by my words that the junior schools are not prep schools, they do not offer education up to 13 years.Theoosmond (talk) 22:13, 23 January 2016 (UTC)
