Hang on

edit

He had a top10 hit in Belgium with "Play The Game" - thought it would be ok to have a brief entry on him here, although he might appear marginal.

here are some links and news on Hawkes: http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj/kennyhawkes — Preceding unsigned comment added by Planetdust (talkcontribs) 18:56, 16 February 2011

Death

edit

Just undid an edit to say that Kenny Hawkes died on the 17th of June - for 2 reasons, first that the 17th hasn't arrived yet, and secondly that the stories of his death on the 10th of June are as yet unsubstantiated and only on Twitter and Facebook. Once something notable comes up, it should be put back in. Potkettle (talk) 07:26, 11 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

It's been confirmed by local news sources. That should be enough - I doubt word is going to stretch to the BBC. - filelakeshoe 13:00, 11 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Notability

edit

This information should probably be merged with an article on Belgian Dance Music of the 2000's. The subject is not notable enough for a their own article.Paradise coyote (talk) 08:22, 12 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Strongly disagree. First of all he's not Belgian, the single simply sold well in Belgium, and that kind of merging is way against common sense. Secondly he clearly passes WP:MUSIC criterion 2. Thirdly a google news archives search pulls up a few RA results, there are more sources out there - filelakeshoe 11:03, 13 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hoax?

edit

I performed a search on the website of the Argus, but it failed to turn up any mention of him in 2009. Can anyone verify that article, being used as a ref?--Epeefleche (talk) 06:31, 26 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

It was me who added it to the article, and no it's not a hoax. If it had been available as an online source, I would have provided the link to it. Paul Erik (talk)(contribs) 12:45, 26 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
Sorry -- didn't realize it was you who added it. I'm befuddled -- I searched the magazine's archives, which are resident online, but (as indicated above) they didn't indicate its existence. And I just re-ran the searches, looking for "Play the Game" and for the title of the article, and again came up short.--Epeefleche (talk) 19:31, 26 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
It's a 1062-word article primarily about Louise Carver, which includes the following: "Then there was the London tour. Carver is no stranger to the city – it was there that she chased down deep house producer and DJ Kenny Hawkes in Camden in 2001. Their collaboration, Play The Game, hit No 1 on the Belgian dance charts, saw two remixes and another label signing." Evidently the article is not available in the Argus's online archives. Many thanks, Paul. I couldn't tell from their website that their archives were incomplete, but apparently they are. Best.--Epeefleche (talk) 21:03, 26 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
