Cleanup edit

I tried to be thorough with this cleanup, removing redundant information and several bits that gave the article that fanpage air. In the near future, I'll try to give the same treatment to the other four members' articles. Help would be appreciated. - Cyrus XIII 19:27, 2 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Amplification edit

This article currently lists the rest of Dir en grey as using VHT cabs and amps, which is inaccurate. Proper assessment of his equipment should be given instead of broad generalizations. ----Just fixed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.234.93.78 (talk) 03:41, 12 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Instruments edit

I added an extensive list of Kaoru's guitars that I tried to base off lists of established artists, such as Kirk Hammett. I didn't get to add the amps and effects yet, and actually am semi-unfamiliar with these things. Anyone else's input would be appreciated, since I'm more familiar with the instruments and not the effects.

I think I've covered all of the electric guitars he's been seen with, but maybe have missed one or two from the band's indies days. I am aware that he uses several acoustics, primarily from Morris, that I haven't added yet, and some ethnic instruments he's used that I'm unfamiliar with. Once I do more research I'll add these. Also, I've seen him with both the Fender Jaguar and Gibson V, but am unsure of their specifics. Saka 19:11, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm no musician so, I cannot offer any assistance with this. Again, your contributions are much appreciated. - Cyrus XIII 23:20, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Question: The term 'see-thru' not 'see-through' is typically used for finishes, much like 'neck-thru' and 'set thru' are terms used when refering to the method of neck attachment on instruments. I had assumed that it would be proper to use the term 'see-thru' in the article since it is an industry standard. Knowing this, should the changes of 'through' be reverted back to 'thru'? Ads edit

With all of the guitars and their descriptions it sounds like a giant ESP ad. Setsuka13 —Preceding comment was added at 02:14, 21 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Is Kaoru a unisex name? edit

I've heard of 5 or 6 other people named Kaoru, and they were all women. Louis Waweru  Talk  19:30, 12 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes it is as you can read Kaoru
Thanks. かをる? Haha, interesting. Louis Waweru  Talk  17:40, 30 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Full name? edit

Does anyone know if there are any reliable references for what the guy's real name might be, is it actually Kaoru? I'd like to redirect it here. Tyciol (talk) 21:09, 3 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Can some one please upgrade the equipment section as it is very inaccurate. Just off the top off my head: He uses peavey 6505 and 6505 for leads (Both live and in studio) (here's some proof)http://dphoto.mw.net/musicpic.net/galleries/6040/dir_en_grey_018_nd7_1518.jpg His cry baby is a rackmount unit. He also has a vox wah (seen in the video for kodou) In the early days he used a fender tone master as a power amp (this is from either the back of the yarouzi or the gauze score book. I'll add more a as I review my archives.

Real name edit

In an 2009 issue of Kerrang!, his name was given as "Kaoru Niikura". On the limited contents website for the UROBOROS album, he complains: "I hate it when my real name is put in the magazines without anyone asking if I'm OK with that". Would this count as an official confirmation of his real name or does wikipedia need a more direct source? Seelentau (talk) 04:39, 13 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
