  • KanaraCanara - C is the most proper letter not K. KensplanetTalkContributions 12:27, 20 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • I oppose..BRITANNICA ENCYCLOPEDIA USES KANARA not CANARA , see Britannica, one more reference here [1]...it is very clear KANARA is more appropriate.
Kanara is officially recognised name, one more reference from Indian government site Kanara
I Request admins to not move page, because i given valid proofs to show Kanara is a correct word 59.92.183.179 (talk) 14:55, 20 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Cultures of Kanara Mention of the languages spoken is misleading. Tulu and Konkani are the major languages apart from Kannada which is the official language of Karnataka state where this region belongs to. In the southern part (upto Udipi) Tulu is very much spoken but in the northern part it is mostly Kannada which is the most spoken language. Konkani and Christian community throughout the region speak Konkani. Tulu and Kannada are spoken by people irrespective of their religion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.153.162.134 (talk) 04:33, 9 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Uh why did this change name to karavali? Doesnt make any sense as this region is still more popularly recognised as Kanara and only kannadigas call it as Karavli. Kanara is much more appropriate term for this. There is no official term for the 3 districts. SthegreT (talk) 20:56, 10 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

KaravaliKanara Yes, Karavli doesn't means coastal karnataka, Karavli means "coastal" only. Historically "Kanara" only used, still using. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 157.45.194.98 (talk) 15:27, 23 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

It's better if only coastal Talukas considerd for kanara region. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 157.45.194.98 (talk) 15:35, 23 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Land Reclamation? edit

The history section refers to when the "coastal strip of Canara was reclaimed from the sea" but Geography section does not mention reclaimed land. How much land - and when? Tiddy (talk) 05:26, 8 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Rename it as TULUNADU edit

Dakshina kannada udupi and kasargod is tulu nadu. its not kanara. some kannada hate monger are doing this on purpose please revert it to tulunadu and remove uttara kannada from tulunadu page as its not a part of tulunadu. or else add separate page for tulunadu. you cant redirect the tulunadu to kanara we are the people of tulunadu does not want to be called as kanara or costal karntaka people mind it. we are from tulunadu so call it as tulunadu. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vickyamin (talkcontribs) 09:21, 10 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
