Misdirection

edit

KBUP is not KGY. It simply bought KGY's AM frequency. The older station (one of the oldest in Washington State) is still in operation on the FM band. See KGY's website: http://www.kgyfm.com/#!kgyhistory/cuhy

KGY does not currently have a WP entry, but I mean to change that. In the meantime, this page should not redirect to KBUP, which is not KGY in any sense. Laodah 23:18, 3 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia articles on North American radio and television stations are named using the legal call sign of the station per FCC records, and reflect the history of the station's broadcast license. KBUP is, in fact, the same broadcast license that was known on the AM dial until November 2014 as KGY. Any history related to that station while it held the KGY call sign should be contained in the KBUP article.
The KGY-FM that operates on the FM band today is actually broadcast translator K237FR, associated with KYYO (which was KGY-FM until November 2013). Any information related to the current KGY-FM should be contained in the KYYO article. Mlaffs (talk) 01:51, 16 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
