NET/PBS programs on Alaskan commercial stations edit

I see references on a number of Alaskan TV-related pages about commercial stations carrying Sesame Street, The Electric Company, etc. I was recently reading an Alaskan reference volume from the 1960s, and it sure seems to me that the book hints that those stations received payment for airtime from federal monies channeled through school districts.
