editThis band has recently developed a cult following, probably due to the fame of guitarist Joel Kosche. I hope someone can provide more details of the original band. I found a mention in 1994 Rolling Stone but it offers little information of the band's origins. Here's hoping some prog aficianados out there can fill in the blanks. After extensive(!) digging, I uncovered the info I posted under "Albums". If anyone can provide a citation to the Rolling Stone article or the MM article, that would be great, as I don't have the actual publication dates & info, just the quotes.65.143.70.245 (talk) 14:17, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
Details
editAre they a U.S. band? I think their origin should be mentioned in the introduction. BNutzer (talk) 11:05, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
Good call, BNutz... I added their city of origin (Atlanta).
I also corrected an error I found. The critical review was in Blender Magazine (not Musician Magazine) winter 1995, Dennis Publishing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.94.29.44 (talk) 17:57, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
Inappropriate nomination for deletion and removal of tag
edituser:Andyjsmith has nominated this article for deletion. He and I had a quarrel a few days ago, and apparently he is now going through my entire history to undo/delete all of my contributions, 2 years running. Our personal issues should not impact Wikipedia content, so I have removed the tag, and I apologize on both our behalves for the silliness.
Jovian Storm was the brainchild of Joel Kosche, and in that respect it is the precursor to Grammy-award-winning Collective Soul. This has been established in many prominent rock magazines as noted: Rolling Stone and Blender reviews which, unfortunately, predate internet records (remember the 90s?) so are unavailable for direct linking--a problem we have covered already. Any time Joel Kosche is interviewed he discusses Jovian Storm, even as recently as the April 2010 issue of Classic Rock Magazine. Jovian Storm is history, and as long as Collective Soul and Joel Kosche are notable, so is their inception.
Please don't allow this article do disappear just because two goons had a quarrel on Wikipedia. Rock on, friends. Wikisicky (talk) 01:05, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
- Don't worry. That user has been reported. He has a history of vandalism. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 166.137.138.234 (talk) 12:26, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
Found citation for Rolling Stone & Blender reviews
editIn the April 2010 issue of Classic Rock Magazine interview with Collective Soul, they discuss Jovian Storm indepth, particularly the two extreme reviews they received on their debut album. The CRM article was available online for only a month before being deleted, but you can still see it in the Google cache if you google "site:classicrockmagazine.com 'Jovian Storm'" (as of today). Rather than post a broken link, I have put a link to CRM's home page. Let's hope that clears up the issue about lack of citations and poor sourcing. Wikisicky (talk) 01:27, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
